No because generation V development started in 2006 when the 3DS was unknown so the main series games of this generation were designed to be on the DS and I think it would have been bad to just transfer them to the 3DS without any big changes. I'm sure that generation VI is currently being developed and it will be for the 3DS.

No because not many 3DS unit were sold, it's not fair for those who have DS/Lite/I/IXL to waste $170 to get a 3DS PLUS $35 for the game. Though Nintendo can make a huge profit but.... what can I say.

Eh, it never really mattered to me. I more often don't care what console a game is on as long as the game is good and it's on a console I have or am interested in getting. Though the 3DS could always use more good games. :3

I'm happy that they're on the DS, that'll give her one last jem before she gets discontinued.

I think its fine on the DS since splitting the gen is bad in my opinion and I assume the 3DS wouldn't offer anything besides the 3D which would make it a little.....weak and just a gimmick.

Gen VI on the other hand, I think will actually offer much more than just 3D.

Eh, just as long as Gen VI and a possible R/S/E will be made for the 3DS (and considering how many traditions Gen V broke), I don't care.

I'm okay with it. It's better than splitting the generation across two different handhelds, and putting a game on a device that they're probably not ready to work with yet (like with DP). And it means I can play them without having to buy a new thing which is always good

No. Not as many people own the newest handheld yet, and the leap to the 3DS should be left for Gen VI. A few 3DS exclusive features would be cool, though.

Well I'm shocked.

I voted No, they're fine on the DS. fully expecting to be in the minority, but we've come first in this poll, and yet on so many threads the vast majority seems to be in favour of it being on the 3DS

I actually ended up voting yes before reading the thread because "omg pokemon on 3ds yesyesyes", but I think that some very good points have been made in here, so now I'm kinda regretting my vote. I agree that, if these two games really do end up as direct sequels, it would probably not be a great idea to put them on a different system than the original, since the people who have little to no interest in the 3DS wouldn't get a chance to play it. However, were this a more traditional "third version", I would definitely say put it on the 3DS, since it would technically be the same game with additional features, for people who want an upgraded experience. If some people don't want a 3DS, then fine. They can go play the originals. But since these things probably are going to be sequels, I kinda want to vote no now.

And about not many 3DS units being sold...well, a main series Pokemon game would certainly give it a major boost, and it's been selling much better since the price drop (and subsequent influx of games worth playing) anyway.

Nah...I'm too cheap to get a 3DS right now.

That and I don't think they should switch to the next handheld console in the middle of a generation.

I'm glad they are still on the DS. I don't want to have to fork out almost $200 on a 3DS. I like my DS and I'm perfectly happy with it, I don't want to change to a new one yet. For all I care, every Pokemon game made from now on can be on the DS and I would be happy because I wouldn't have to replace it.

I would've liked them to be on the 3ds since it needs more games, but I'm totally fine with it being on the Ds.

I would also rather have them on the 3DS, but I don't mind them being on DS that much either.

I'm fine with it as long as they fix the resolution issue :<

It would have boosted 3DS sales a lot more, but I've got my DS and 3DS, so i dont care

I for one am glad its on the DS. They shouldnt switch consoles halfway through a generation, so they did the right thing with B2/W@ honestly. More people have DS's, so can play these games without spending 200 dollars for the 3DS and the game, those that already have a 3DS can play the game on their system in 2D, so this way, the games are reachable to a larger audience than they probably would be on the 3DS because people may not want to or cannot afford to buy a 3DS just to play these games.

It's a complicated question. It doesn't send a good message that one of Nintendo's primary system sellers--hell, the primary system seller--isn't taking advantage of the company's new handheld. Indeed, this will be the second mainstream game in the franchise not be released on the 3DS since the system launched in the US. At the same time, a direct continuation that'll reuse the sheer majority of the same assets as it predecessor would be easier to release on the same system, and it would undoubtedly sell more on the DS than the 3DS.

GameFreak isn't acting on Nintendo's best interests here. It may have hurt them in the long run, but fortunately for them, the 3DS is now doing quite well without Pokemon support. While I would've personally preferred a 3DS version since I own a 3DS, not a lot of people want to invest in faulty and flawed hardware.
