The 2024 Pokémon Orlando Regional Championships were held from 13-14 April 2024, and were won by 2016 World Champion Wolfe Glick.
This tournament used the Regulation Set F format, allowing access to every Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, excluding Restricted Special Pokémon such as Koraidon or Miraidon. More information from the event can be found below, including each trainer in the Top 32; the teams they used, which you can click or tap to see more information, such as each Pokémon's moves or ability; and their final win-loss record. Winning Team
Wolfe Glick ended up losing to only three opponents throughout the 2024 Orlando Regionals: 2023 Charlotte Regional Champion Justin Carris, Andrew Zheng, and Charles Moses.Wolfe Glick had previously defeated Justin Carris in the Top 8 of the 2016 World Championships—the event that Glick would go on to win. In Round 7 of the 2024 Orlando Regionals, Carris would turn the tables, defeating Glick with a team focused around fast and heavy offense with hard-hitters in Iron Crown and Regidrago. The former has access to Expanding Force, a devastatingly powerful attack that can hit both targets when used on the Psychic Terrain that Indeedee sets up with its ability Psychic Surge, and Regidrago can fire off powerful Dragon-type attacks in Draco Meteor and its signature move Dragon Energy, boosted by its Dragon Fang held item and its signature ability Dragon's Maw.
Andrew Zheng defeated Glick in Round 9 using a team of format staples in Gholdengo, Dragonite, and Chien-Pao, supported by a few uncommon Pokémon in Ting-Lu, Gouging Fire, and Dondozo. Chien-Pao's signature ability, Sword of Ruin, would greatly benefit the physical attackers on the team by lowering the Defense stat of every other Pokémon currently in battle. Along with Gouging Fire's Howl boosting both its and its teammate's Attack stat, this team could quickly deal huge damage if not challenged. Zheng would later go on to win the 2025 Louisville Regional Championships later in the same year, defeating Wolfe Glick in Top 8.
Wolfe Glick's final loss in this event was at the hands of Charles Moses' team, boasting a strong core focused around speed control from Tornadus' Tailwind. With their Speed stats doubled, powerful Pokémon like Ogerpon Wellspring, Chi-Yu, Flutter Mane, and Urshifu Single Strike could deal huge damage without having to worry about their opponents being faster. Additionally, Chi-Yu's signature ability Beads of Ruin lowers the Special Defense stats of every other Pokémon in battle, allowing itself, Flutter Mane, and Glimmora to deal large amounts of damage quickly.
