I might be going on a long trip with my DS soon (which I'm pretty happy about, I hate staying in one place), but I have no idea about what new games I should by. I was never really into handhelds, my main platform always has been as PC, so I'm looking for some recommendations on DS games (I can't be stuck playing Pokemon and Zelda all the time...)

Of course this is just a general game recommendation thread, where anyone can just tell everyone about what games they enjoy for any platform :), and anyone can ask for recommendations or advice. I know this is kind of similar to the "What video games are you playing now?" but this thread serves a different purpose.

Well, it's not a DS game but we should enjoy the GBA slot while it's still there--Final Fantasy VI Advance is my vote. Nice long game, awesome story, awesome characters, and the music simply can't be beat.

You could give any of the Harvest Moon DS titles a try, or maybe even Animal Crossing. Those games are usually pretty fun imo.

If you like playing on the PC, then you are probably familiar with Age of Empires series. I never knew they made it for the DS as well (Its called Age of Empires: Age of Kings), until I saw it at target the other day and picked it up, they did a good job with it... would recommend it. (Kinda off topic but, speaking of PC games... they need to make Diablo for the DS xD)

ario games are ok, good for time killing, but can get boring after a while and can be good for more than one person on multiplayer

These are games you should play. I will edit this list when I think of more games.

NEXT GEN CONSOLES:
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Viva Pinata
Disgaea 3
Ninja Gaiden Sigma

LAST GEN CONSOLES:
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Yakuza
Persona 3

If you're into page turners, go for the Ace Attorney series. (I would plug that.) I played the first game during a vacation and thought the point-and-click adventure genre fit the pleasantness of an extended car trip perfectly.

EDIT: Wow, month-old thread. XD Guess that car trip is over and done with, huh?

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

I just bought it, and I'm enjoying it. It's very atypical for Sonic the Hedgehog in that it's an RPG, with turn-based battle. Oh, and the whole "relationship" thing you get with a lot of RPGs nowadays.

Ive got a game you SHOULDN'T buy.. King Kong DS, If you ever see it never buy it, the graphics are really stuffed up and theres loads of glitches..

Don't buy it people!!!

Month old thread? It was posted not 27 hours ago!
...yes. Because we're in October, not November. Right. I know that now that it's daytime. I didn't know that when it was after midnight last night.

Me at night and me in the morning is a very stupid, forgetful, weirdass person. :x My computer needs some kind of system to prevent anyone from turning it on after 10 or so...

Pretty much any Final Fantasy on a handheld is good, like VI Advance or the remakes of III and IV for DS. Also I'm a surprise fan of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, but if you can get your hands on Fire Emblem 7 (titled just Fire Emblem outside Japan), that's one of the best GBA games out there. *fanboy* ^_^

Kirby Super Star Ultra for the Nintendo DS is surprisingly entertaining.

I second that (especially the Helper to Hero option)

Also, if you're a fan of the Spore series, you could buy Spore Creature Creator for the DS

I would recommend Disgaea DS. Although I am not very far into the game it is pretty fun. Plus, based on what I've heard one can spend a really long time on this game (some have spent over 500-600 hours playing this game which includes playing through New Game+). The storyline is pretty good too.
