Title. What are video game theories you do not believe

I really dont believe the Ninten is Ness's father theory as this theory has little evidence. Plus this is a very simple theory to debunk as Ness is canonically 13 in his game's american release which makes his birthyear 1981 if we decode 199X. EarthBound Beginnings takes place in the late 80s so that proves this theory false.
 
It may not be as prominent now, but there was a fan theory that in Pokémon R/B/Y your rival's Raticate leaves his party because it died, sometimes even specifying you killed it on the SS Anne, which is why you find him next in Pokémon Tower.

Needless to say I find the theory unconvincing.

I couldn't agree more. Blue likely just throws it in the PC since he wants strong Pokemon, which Raticate is not.
 
Honestly? Basically all of them. I don't place any stock in fan "theories", in general, and video games fandoms are no exception. I use the term loosely, because they're usually nothing more than speculative ideas that fans like to imagine to be, and they almost universally either end up being wrong or, more often than not, are never addressed at all, one way or the other, by the original creators.
 
Also, if we did kill the Raticate, why didn't the rival get angry? If we did kill it, he would have been furious on meeting up with us. Heck, I would argue that he would have been upset after the S.S Anne battle!
