Villainous Champion? (and other Championship ideas)

I was thinking to myself this morning, and I think the Champion formula needs to be shaken up a bit. Since Gen II, we've had the champions be heroes, people who fight alongside you against the villains in the main journey. Only Gen I hit us with a truely odd bombshell, making your rival champion. There needs to be a twist this time. And then it hit me.

...why not make the champion the evil team's leader (or, alternately, another (possibly more ambitions) member)? It could make sense - Giovanni was able to play everyone into thinking he was a cool Gym Leader for a time before revealing that he was an evil man. The greater trainers (Leaders, Elite Four, Champion, and Frontier Brains) have all been Flanderized into being good guys. ONLY good guys. Who's do say they don't have the capacity to be evil? I liked the fact that Giovanni was a Leader in RB(G)Y, because it as a cool twist that wasn't expected. The Special manga has explored this extensively, as well, with interesting results. Another idea could be to make the Champion someone apart from the Team, but still evil or less-than-just.

One more little thing. I'm sorry, but I think it's about time the championship was defended on a rooftop. I wanna see this done right. Defend the title on the roof of the Pokemon League building, and make the Hall of Champions a small room on the roof. That would make shit SO awesome. (Plus, it adds to the drama if it were an evil champion you were facing.)

also make the champion a hwat babe like Cynthia

Okay, I agree with you. I did like the Giovanni as a leader thing. The villain being the champion... a very intriguing idea.

Also, yes to the rooftop. I can picture it now.

You emerge from the elevator to find the roof. Rather plain. Nothing fancy. Standing with his/her back to you is the champ. You automatically walk towards the champ and stop two squares away. S/he starts talking to you, back still to you, and then turns around and challenges you.

Epic.

I like this idea. I would even like the idea of a hidden underlying conspiracy in the official League world, sort of like how many of the Gym Leaders in Pokemon Adventures were a part of Team Rocket and the Elite Four were their own little psychotic cult...

If they're going the route the seem to be going down (Zoroark seems to suggest it, but that's just me), I think an underlying conspiracy in the League would be excellent. Corruption and politics would be so awesome to see in the Pokemon world, but considering its target audience, I don't think we'll see much depth in it. I might be wrong, though, and I hope I am.

I prefer the good old "your rival becomes the champion" thingy. But that and becoming a Gym Leader were eseentially what made Green different than others, this two statuses were his gimmick.

So a villainous champion would be interesting. For three gens champions helped you(Wataru in Gen II, Daigo in Gen III and Shirona in Gen IV). And the champion should show off his/her status, the ones you don't know they are a champion or not are becoming boring. Though I don't think anybody thought Wataru wasn't a champion in Gen II as that was obcious as Pikachu's type but eeh.

And I would REALLY like another side-boss who is more powerful than Champion itself, a la Red or Daigo in Emerald. Not like Lila or Kurotsugu, I want a real battle where you get moneyz >3.

Yes.

So does that mean if you beat the Champion, leadership for the team is yours for the taking?

And then we get the power to command grunts and troops and executives. And then we take the league by storm! Stealing! Eco-terrorism! Causing the creation of new universes! More stealing!

It would be pretty awesome if the champion was...

The regional professor of the game, and nobody in the league actually knew it was him/her. He/She also gives no indication of this the entire time.

Oh, that would very awesome. A friend of mine mentioned that the previous champions should be faced like the E4. So, after beating all the previous champions the real champion could totally be Professor Ookido, the regional professor, or the villainous champion.

That would work, if only he has an ever changing team which changes each time depending on your team to match an exact offense and defense perfectly against you, from knowing your team through the dex.

That gives me Kincaid vibes. I love it.

The idea is...epic, to say the least. I want this. Definitely.

That would be a good Idea except they would have to make the professor a bit younger.. You can't have a 100 year old Elite4 Champion!!
and about the Antagonist being champion.. Great idea.. I doubt they would implement it but what they might do is make him in the elite 4 and the champion and the other 3 want him to leave the elite 4 and the Evil guy says that if he loses to you.. he will quit and basically you beat him and you win..

OR

The whole elite 4 (excluding the champion) are evil or all are and you've to beat them to beat the Evil team..

Why not?

I would like mostly anything but a "Hey, we met once, I had super powerful pokemon then to, but I didn't help you because thats much more fun" kind of guy/gal. (I know Steven and Lance helps you out, but Lance don't do it in the originals and Steven aren't the champ in Emerald)

I agree with this.

Also, plot wise, I can see professor X (not sure about the name, so lets call her/him that) turning the champion using this "cheat". Say, the former champion, like you, received a Pokédex from professor X. Then, after having him fight the E4 prof. X would have information about the E4 rooster, as well as their strategies (suppposing the rooster is a secret and the E4 doesn't change it so often). With such useful information, beating the E4 would be piece of cake (seriously, if you consult the 'pedia before facing them, isn't it a lot more easy?). Prof. X would have no problem getting Pokémon, even if he/she had to "borrow" them. After that, Prof. X could beat the E4 and champion, leading to the situation you guys described.

Heyyy, that's not a bad idea. Oooooh, make the champ Cyrus, that psycho was still damn sexy the villainous team leader as Champion! That's a plot twist I'd love to see!

Ya'll crazy with your scratchy things, I would type it like:

also make the champion a hwat babe like Cynthia

In short, yes.
