Once upon a time, there was a world. A world where you could experience magic every day, in the comfort of your own home. A world where it didn't matter how old you were, or how much (real) money you had, or whether you had a life-threatening disese; people accepted you no matter what, for in this world, those things could be kept secret. This world was called the Virtual Magic Kingdom, and it was started on May 23, 2005, to celebrate Disneyland's 50th anniversary. All was going well in this world, until, on April 7, 2008, it was announced that this world would be closing PERMANENTLY on May 21, 2008. We (the VMK players) begged and pleaded with Disney not to close this world, but they wouldn't listen. Someone even started a petition (www.savevmk.com) to keep VMK open, which has gotten over 182,000 hits, and over 22,000 signatures. Still, Disney would not listen, and on May 21, 2008, at 10:00 PM Pacific time, the Virtual Magic Kingdom closed for good. Please go to www.savevmk.com and sign the petition. It will just take a minute of your time, and over a million people (there were about 2 million accounts registered on VMK as of 2007) are counting on you.
