Viz Release Dates for Pokemon Adventures 7 & 8

I hope there's not a thread or post about this somewhere, or else I'll feel silly. I was browsing Amazon for advance release dates, and even though I'm always skeptical of their info, I did find these:

If this is right, then this is awesome! I'd been worried since they started the rerelease that they'd stop at 7 again.

Viz takes too long to release...sigh. Pokemon Adventures (Pokemon Special) is -so- good!
 
Sweet, Volume 8! You think they would try to release it closer to HG/SS to try and generate some hype. Oh well, at least it looks like we are getting it.

Also, Why such a gap in the DPA release?
 
I wonder what an "Aipcom" is...

Is there any evidence to suggest they would use their translations?

For what it's worth, they're not using Chuang Yi's translations for the bonus pages in the early volumes, those that weren't included in their first print.

I think they'll retranslate. I assume this release is being overseen by the Pokemon Company International, and Chuang Yi's translations, while not BAD, weren't done by people overly familiar with Pokemon, so there's a bunch of terms and names that don't correspond with the English games, especially in these early volumes.

I assume this means we'll get even more alternate names for all the original characters. Oh joy.

I dunno . . . DPA could've easily had all of it released by now (since it's done in Japan and it's been rather popular in the US, even moreso than PokeSpe . . . er, Adventures, I mean . . .). I guess they WANT us to be anticipating it? . . . the cover looks AWESOME btw.

As for the PokeAdv releases, I'm excited for it. It's about time! Now that I know they will be continuing it, I'll definitely start buying it. Here's hoping the R/S arc isn't too screwed up when they retranslate it . . . *crosses fingers*

Yep. I hope they'll rectify the Joey > Grant error (it's easy-to-miss but somehow Chuang Yi WAS able to catch it in their Golden Boys translation so I guess not THAT easy-to-miss).

Also, the Sages from Sprout Tower were named after Sages from the games in the original (Mokunen, Kainen, Eisou etc. [the names derive from eastern virtues]), Chuang Yi translated those names remotely literally as Peaceful, Mindful, Rightful etc. but those still weren't names from the games. I doubt that Viz will catch this, though. So most likely we'll get yet another version.

As for Gold's (and other characters') Pokemon. I hope that Viz DOESN'T USE CORONIS'S NAMES. If they do that, I'm gonna cut my veins.

I'm too used to the names Chermaine and Keane, also. Those are Chuang Yi's probably best and most creative names. Thousand times better than Coronis's "Shum and Cart". I also hope that they DON'T call them Athena and Apollo (or whatever they'll English names be). While there's no doubt that those are cross-canon counterparts (blame their namelessness back in GSC) I think they should have different names (for the same reason that we don't call Red "Ash" or Ruby "Brendan").

Also, hope they use Kris (or Crys) instead of "Chris".

I'll be happy to have new names for Hokage and Shizuku as long as the other Admins keep their names from the games (as much as we all hate the name "Tabitha", consistency is consistency). But that's a long-distance thing. They might stop after Johto... Hope not but who knows.
 
I wonder if there will be more censoring in these volumes.

ffff, cannot wait for the future arcs to come out here. Hopefully, we'll get the DP arc in 2012?

...Okay, that's too early, but it's so sad how behind America is. We have a slight chance of getting caught up.

It really depends on the series.

This is good news for Special. (Too bad about DPA though...)

I don't think they will (nor do I want them to)...

Anyway, I'm not surprised that this is happening (I'd have been more surprised if they weren't), but I'm glad it's confirmed.
 
I'm a little bummed about the DPA news, but I've been checking dates for a bunch of other manga and Viz has a lot of big gaps from what I'm seeing. 7 months between Legend of Zelda releases, for example. But I can forgive them because I have confidence that they'll publish them eventually, unlike some other publishers I could mention.
 
For a split second, I thought this thread was announcing the release of Phantom Thief! Pokémon 7. :x

But, hey, GSC arc of Adventures finally seeing the light of day in NA is good.

"Chris" comes from the Chuang Yi translation. I never had a problem with it, but apparantly others did.
