Actually...all of the information in the news article about the manga was posted on Amazon.com a month ago as well :P

The only new information is the stuff about the "Fun with Pokemon" book.

Still, it's nice to see non-Special manga news show up on the site. Better late than never and all that.

I hope they don't butcher the crap out of this like they did Special to appease the almighty Soccer Moms.

Is it true that they're also releasing the manga adaption for movie 10? Or is that just a rumor?

Well, there is this listing on Amazon.com that is, most likely, a translation of the "Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai" manga adaptation. But there's no really no way to be 100% sure.

The translation was pretty good. I mean come on, if they were really lead around on a short leash by the soccer mom army, they wouldn't have had things like Blue's pokeballs-in-bra shot or the decapitated Arbok or anything like that.

The biggest butchery they did to it was to stop at volume 7.

I don't remember them doing anything major. Actually, I don't remember any edits at all.

Besides, that was Viz then. They've gotten alot better, and their mangas are usually pretty close to the original.

agree! *turns to a death note manga* indeed they have gotten better!

Is this comic just a literal adaptation of the currently running cartoon, or does it contain different characters and such?

It, like the majority of the Pocket Monsters-related manga, is a completely original story.

The only ones I can think of that follow the show are Ono's series and the movie adaptations, and those take *huge* liberties with the story.

Oh, and the characters from the show were in side gag strips in Magical Pokemon Journey, but that doesn't quite count.

There's also "Satoshi and Pikachu," but, like the other anime-based ones, huge liberties were taken with the plots. Such as Shuu's character design.
