Okay, see, this is why I'm asking for transcripts of D/P stuff. Because random info is popping up everywhere and I have no idea what is rumor and what is not.
Someone points out that this article contains the following:
"Lance (Wataru), the Flying/Dragon Pokémon master and cousin of Gym Leader Claire of Blackthorn City. Lance is also the cousin of Shinnoh Elite Four Champion Shirona."

Of course, the article has no sources (and they misspelled Sinnoh). So I'd like some solid proof or disproof.
 
I've been hearing people mention this on Serebii as well, and wondering where they heard it.

Guess I found out. I don't think Shirona mentions it, unless a minor NPA says it.
 
So we're still out of luck for sources? Because that's kind of a rather significant piece of info for those of us interested in the lives and backgrounds of the NPCs. I, for one, haven't seen any Japanese fansites mention it, and all the ones I frequent are the ones that center on the GL/E4/Champions--they'd be the first to jump on juicy info like this, especially given how popular Shirona already is in the Japanese fandom and Lance isn't exactly unpopular (if halfway forgotten).

EDIT: Okay, did a Google search of　シロナ　ワタル　いとこ　従姉妹　従兄弟　in various combinations (beginning with the least specific possible, which would be just their two names, and working up from there). And I did not find a single page confirming that they are cousins. The one thing I found was a BBS post citing the English Wiki article (actually not the one making the claim about Shirona and Lance, but the one listing the E4/Champions), and this is what the post said:

...Definitely not a confirmation of the Wiki article info, if I read that right.

Not someone, but rather, a chain of people retelling what they heard from other people in a truly twisted form of Chinese Whispers.
 
You need to remember,Wikipedia can't always be trusted for information.
 
Well yeah. So. I wonder if someone will expunge the error? I'd do it myself but to make a Wiki account just for that reason seems silly. And besides, someone's bound to put it up again (probably one of the believers on Serebii). >>
 
Anonymous editing is permitted on most Wikipedia articles, you know.
 
You know I coulda swore I read something like this in the actual GS game at some point. Now granted, it's been a while sine I've thouroughly played said games, but it really just feels like this isn't the first time I've read about this. o_O
