I loved this film, I loved the brilliance of both the music and animation together and it's an very timeless film. I also can't wait to get the Blu-ray version coming out later this year.

.....what an incredibly odd post.

I mean yeah, I know it's an absolutely brilliant film...
But it was released 70 years ago, and the only relevant thing about it won't be for another 4 months! It just seems very odd that you suddenly bring it up now.

Does this topic include the 2000 Fantasia as well? I was not around to watch the Fantasia of old, but I did watch some of the new Fantasia (the 2000 version).

Regarding the new one, I liked the last one, which is about the one with the sprite meeting and accidentally enraging destruction of the forest, and also the one with flying whales. Because the new one includes the original Sorcerer's Apprentice, I guess you could say I watched some old Fantasia as well.

For those who had watched both Fantasias, how do both of them measure up to you, and which one is in your opinion the better one?

Original Fantasia is, without a doubt, one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, I DEFINITELY recommend it. Fantasia 2000 was all right, but it just didn't have that same feel as the original one.

Yes you can talk about it's sequel. I very like the first and I liked the sequel and at least it's not as bad as the other crappy DTV Disney sequels. I like the first alot more.

I'm also looking forward to the Blu-Ray release later this year... I'm hoping this will finally be a truly uncensored transfer, but I'm not holding my breath on that count. Either way, it'll be amazing to be able to watch this 70 year-old masterpiece in HD... Disney tends to do excellent work restoring their classics for DVD, and now Blu-Ray releases.

My favourite sequences from the original are probably 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice', and 'The Pastoral Symphony'. From Fantasia 2000, I'd go with 'Pomp & Circumstance' as my favourite (gotta love Donald, and the traditional animation was gorgeous), followed by 'Rhapsody in Blue'.

I'm lucky enough to have bought the 3-disc Anthology set back when it came out in the earlier days of DVD (Disney did a stellar job on bonus features and stuff back then), but these days the DVD seems difficult to find. It's in the vault, for sure, and the only places to probably find it now are some of the better used DVD/CD stores, and eBay.
