While the thought of searching for a potential mate at a family reunion might sound repulsive to some, researchers in Iceland report that "kissing cousins" may produce more children and grandchildren than unrelated couples.

A study released Thursday in the journal Science found that marriages between third or fourth cousins in Iceland tended to produce more children and grandchildren than those between completely unrelated individuals.

Funny thing is, that was my exact thoughts when I read the title.

It's sad because I live in the south.

I didn't, but I'm pretty much eternally slow on the uptake ;)

I did read this earlier today. I haven't been able to read enough science behind it to where I give it a second glance, but it is worth a laugh.
 
Well, if I didn't have a reason to stay away from my cousins before...!

What I was thinking was:

"How many children would you produce marrying your own sibblings"

and

"Thank god it was their third or fourth cousins"

and

"Do we really want this?

Well, a couple of weeks ago I saw a news article where two twins (boy and girl) had both been given to an orphanage right after birth, and adopted by different families almost straight away. many years later, they met and fell in love, and got married. They didn't find out until after the marriage that they were brother and sister.

W8, I think they are still married.... wow, I diddnt believe they still wub each other like that.... @_@

IMO, dunno, but Im not sure if even such a shocker can break them up... who noes... but I bet thier kids will b shocked that they are siblings..... o_O
