War in the Pokemon world

How would a war in the Pokemon war be carried out, hypothetically. I am aware of the fact that Movie 9 showed a Middle Ages war, but I mean in the modern Pokemon world. Suggestions?
 
How I see it:
Basically the Broken one would just randomly keep firing off Judgment and Wobbuffet would all stand in a group deflecting any move thrown at them.
 
Well, according to Surge, they used to planes and fought using Pokemon... except to kill.

So, kind of a cross between a pokemon battle and halo.
 
Maybe the fighters engage in Pokemon battles? Military weapons aren't the only things involved.
 
I see it as a fusion of modern warfare and Pokémon Adventures styled battling.

Of course, there is nothing to prevent you from doing something like say, shooting your opponent and his Pokémon instead of sending out a Pokémon of your own.

Well, The way i see it, if they were to use guns as you suggest, there'd probably be a code of honor implying that you cant shoot pokémon engaged in battle, and so forth. Though i doubt people would still use guns when they can use giant fire-breathing dragons lol

Whoever that uses a Charizard instead of a gun has OBVIOUSLY never seen a Gatling gun! xD
 
I say they'd use Pokemon. It was considered a "war" when the Yas Gym fought the Kaz Gym in EP042.

*Movie 8.

I can see Pokémon such as Rapidash and Tauros being used the same way horses were in the past, canine Pokémon can be used to sniff out bombs (or Voltorbs and Electrodes =3).

Of course, guns and conventional guns will still be used, but Voltorb and Electrode can be re-used with a thing called a Revive.

To be honest though, psychic type Pokémon would just dominate in a war.

That was more of a street brawl than anything else.

And as for Psychic types, I would assume that they did find counters to psionic assault.

And since psychic Humans do exist in the Pokémon canon, maybe militaries have a "Psy-Corps"?

Though the way I see it, RPG-7 with a tandem HEAT warhead is more or less equal to say a Rhyperior.

One other thing that I saw in a fan fic that made some sense was that type weaknesses only apply to Pokémon attacks. The example in the fic I saw was that napalm was "super effective" against Rock type Pokémon.
 
It would probably still be like what was shown in move 9, only with Guns and Helicopters. The Groups of soldiers would run around shooting the Taliban, an Aggron, Garchomp or Tyranitar running rampant alongside them for both cover and extra firepower. Gunmen and Snipers would be Protected by Alakazam or the like,anything with shield based moves (Protect, Light Screen, Safeguard ect). Commanders would fly around on Charizard or Salamence shooting alongside Helicopters. When one is egaged in a fistfight after their bullets have run out, a Hitmonchan or Breloom would be called out to gang up with Punches and Kicks.

I had a dream like that once.
 
Perhaps the pokemon are used for hit-and-run strategies.

Wreck havoc in the enemy base, and let the military clean up what's left of it.
 
Well I think psychics would be useful. Since they sometimes are telepathic, they could just sit off to the side and watch their trainers and eventually use future sight to do somehting like, "By the way, there's gonna be doods in ur base like...now."

Or who can see the possibility of humanoid-shaped Pokemon using modern weapons?

Ooh dear, I don't think they have modern weapons, like for REAL weapons, in Pokemon. D: But if such a thing happened, humans would continue being the lazy bastards they are and just use their Pokemon. And then a 10-year-old kid will step into the middle of the battle with their Pokemon and demand the war stop...

The term 'war' is subjective, anyway. It was definitely more like a civil brawl than a war, as there appeared (at least to me) to be no official legislation or treaties or the like when the brawl ended.

@Fairy Red: You would be surprised. I would assume that in the Pokemon world that the teams and the government would have hyper advanced weaponry to stop rampaging enemy Pokemon in times of war. And we know from the Safari Zone episode (the banned one) that revolvers still exist, with enough ammunition still being produced and sold to use them.
 
Also, if they live in a world with more advanced technology than us, the weapons might be too!
