Don't know how this managed to sneak by me. But, apparently, there is going to be a "War of the Independents." This will feature a HUGE number of characters from various non-DC/Marvel companies crossing over (characters like Savage Dragon, ShadowHawk, 10th Muse, Cerebus, Shi all the way down to characters like Captain Canuck, Drunken Monkey, Sunburst, Bedbug, and Captain Africa). This looks very cool, and a great way to get into a lot of indy books for a very low price.
Source. The link includes the promo image, and a list of who's who on the cover (and a list of other characters who are advertised as being in it, including the Maxx). Very cool idea. Too bad it's not until 2008.
EDIT: Found a couple of interesting threads on other boards discussing it.
The artist trying to get John Byrne to let him use some character named ROG. Also discusses some of the characters he's tried to get the rights to use.
According to this post Scott Lobdell (Uncanny X-Men, Generation X) is doing the writing. I love Lobdell's work, so it should be good.
