Hopefully it turns out nicely. I'm excited now.

I'm actually the your blog happens Neku. he probably could play that part well. And they may actually make a sequel too if the fan-girls come along. The sad thing is, I'm gonna be in a theater with about 90% of them having no idea what death Note is.

I know there have been rumors of this since the first film in Japan came out, it's interesting to finally start to see more concrete stuff surface, though!

I'm just hoping the try to do a movie based off of the One Shot rather than the entire series. I don't know why Japanese Film makers feel the need to do that, but too many things happen in a series to be truncated from start to finish in a 2-hour movie.

I also found out (which isn't new news) that Steven Spielberg got the rights to do a Ghost in the Shell movie. That'll probably be interesting as well.

I'm not about to criticize these movies until I see something out of them, though. People tend to jump to conclusions on things and then others are bandwagon jumpers, until pretty soon no one wants to even give it a chance if they try (Still thinking of Speed Racer movie).

if Zac Efferon is Light Yagami I'll go ahead and assume this movie is as bad as the Dragon Ball Evolution

Well, he looks like him, he looks like he could do the two-faced acting as well, probably would be a good role for him and for the movie. Still the people are speculating, but a star like that could make WB actually invest money into it, and give us some real good production values (which would be great for needing to the Shinigami and their relm)

So I say it may not be bad, annoying fans or not... only, no Singing! Deathnote the musical sounds too much like otaku-fodder to me.

Worse. I like Death Note, but I refuse to watch that movie if that toolbag is going to star in it!

I'll watch it although I usually prefer their Japanese counterparts.

Seconded! (er, third-ed?)

I'm a little suspicious of it. One of the big things about the Japanese version that I liked was the pacing. It slowly unraveled, really careful in its execution. American films rarely play with those kinds of elements.

It still seems a little too early to pass judgment, though.

This is what Americans do,Turn great Japanese Anime into crap..
way to go..
Im not going to waste my time or money on this

Hopefully, they find people that are actually familiar with the original work, and don't try to make it something completely different.
