Steel X Ice

I, ghaskan, and Bracken decided to have a battle where one of us would play as Pryce, The Teacher of Winter's Harshness and Leader of the Mahogany's Gym and the other would play as Steven Stone, The Master of Steel and former Hoenn Champion. I took the rule of Pryce and Bracken opted by taking the rule of Steven.

Pryce had the clear disadvantage, with his icy attacks being resisted by Steven's cold steel. Not only that, but also Steven could swing the snow with ease, dealing destructive damage. However, Pryce didn't give up and faced the challenge. For days, he prepared the ultimate ice team, powerful enough to freeze the coldest of all steel. Still, will that be enough? Will Steven threat the old man with arrogance? Will this be a great, long battle, or will this be a fast and laughable battle? Will Pryce overcome the challenge and show the true strength of the Ice Pokémon or will Steven show that Steel cannot defeated by the ones it resists? Open the spoiler to find out...

Steven Stone sent out Bronzong.
Pryce Willow sent out Abomasnow.

Abomasnow's Snow Warning whipped up a hailstorm!
Hail began to fall!
Abomasnow used Substitute.
Abomasnow lost 25% of its health.
Abomasnow made a substitute!
Bronzong used Sandstorm.
The hail stopped.
A sandstorm brewed!
The sandstorm rages.
Abomasnow is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Abomasnow lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.

No big surprises. I had no better choice to help my team than starting with the powerful Abomasnow, and to be honest I wasn't expecting Bracken (called Steven for now on because it's fun) to carry Pokémon with Sandstorm. Something that may give me problems...I start by using substitute, which apparently wasn't all that bad, yet not the best move.

Abomasnow used Leech Seed.
Bronzong was seeded!
Bronzong used Gyro Ball.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Abomasnow!
Abomasnow's substitute faded!
The sandstorm rages.
Abomasnow is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Abomasnow lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.
Bronzong's health was sapped by leech seed!
Bronzong lost 12% of its health.
Abomasnow regained health!
Abomasnow restored 13% of its health.

Not a lot to explain here. Gyro Ball does impressive damage against Abomasnow, and I Leech Seeded it to force a switch.

Abomasnow used Substitute.
Abomasnow lost 25% of its health.
Abomasnow made a substitute!

I order Substitute again, which would help me survive to Bronzong's attack and give me a "free" turn and possibility to use Focus Punch in case of switch.

Steven Stone switched in Scizor (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Pryce Willow switched in Weavile (lvl 100 Weavile ?).
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
The sandstorm rages.
Weavile is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Weavile lost 6% of its health.

A risky move, but I had some sort of luck. We both switch, Steven the annoying Scizor and I the sneaky Weavile.

Weavile used Low Kick.
Scizor lost 62% of its health.
Scizor used Agility.
Scizor's speed was sharply raised.
The sandstorm stopped.

I risk and use Low Kick to wound Scizor. He used Agility, and while that was good so I could hurt him, it was also bad because he could now probably outspeed my other fast Pokémon, Froslass.

Scizor used Bullet Punch.
It's super effective!
Weavile lost 94% of its health.
Pryce Willow's Weavile fainted.

I actually was stupid here; I could've switch in Walrein, who could survive both Bullet Punch and Brick Break (although he would be greatly wounded) and spare Weavile. Oh well. 6-5, with Steven having the advantage.

Pryce Willow switched in Walrein (lvl 100 Walrein ?).
Scizor used Baton Pass.
Steven Stone switched in Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).
Walrein used Yawn.
Metagross became drowsy!

A Baton Pass, to be honest I wasn't expecting it. However, I used Yawn, obligating Steven either to switch or fall asleep.

Metagross used Thunderpunch.
It's super effective!
Walrein lost 37% of its health.
Walrein used Substitute.
Walrein lost 25% of its health.
Walrein made a substitute!
Walrein's leftovers restored its health a little!
Walrein restored 6% of its health.
Metagross fell asleep!

Knowing Walrein could survive Metagross attacks and expecting a switch in, I ordered substitute. Not a lot to say here.

Metagross is fast asleep!
Walrein used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Metagross lost 31% of its health.
Metagross's leftovers restored its health a little!
Metagross restored 6% of its health.
Walrein's leftovers restored its health a little!
Walrein restored 6% of its health.

And he's now alseep. I can calmly spam Earthquake, since when he awakes up Walrein will still have his substitute. Ice body is proving its use, healing my Pokémon well.

Metagross is fast asleep!
Walrein used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Metagross lost 30% of its health.
Metagross's leftovers restored its health a little!
Metagross restored 6% of its health.
Walrein's leftovers restored its health a little!
Walrein restored 6% of its health.

Still asleep, more Earthquake.

Metagross woke up!
Metagross used Thunderpunch.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Walrein!
Walrein's substitute faded!
Walrein used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Metagross lost 34% of its health.
Metagross's leftovers restored its health a little!
Metagross restored 6% of its health.
Walrein's leftovers restored its health a little!
Walrein restored 6% of its health.

And he's awake. The substitute takes the damage, and Walrein keeps up with Earthquake.

Metagross used Explosion.
Walrein lost 62% of its health.
Pryce Willow's Walrein fainted.
Steven Stone's Metagross fainted.

Again, I prove my stupidity; I was confident I could kill Metagross, but he kicked Walrein's butt with Explosion. Oh well, at least my Pokémon didn't go alone. 4-5, with Steven having the advantage.

Steven Stone switched in Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Pryce Willow switched in Abomasnow (lvl 100 Abomasnow ?).
Abomasnow's Snow Warning whipped up a hailstorm!
Hail began to fall!
Pryce Willow switched in Glaceon (lvl 100 Glaceon ?).
Skarmory used Brave Bird.
Glaceon lost 34% of its health.
Skarmory was hit by recoil!
Skarmory lost 11% of its health.
The hail continues to fall.
Skarmory is pelted by hail!
Skarmory lost 6% of its health.
Skarmory's leftovers restored its health a little!
Skarmory restored 6% of its health.
Glaceon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Glaceon restored 6% of its health.

Oh-oh. Abomasnow, part grass, wouldn't do much good against the steel bird Skarmory. I switch in to my Glaceon, who can take the hit with ease.

Skarmory used Spikes.
Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Glaceon used Wish.
Glaceon made a wish!

He decides to set up Spikes. Expecting another attack, I used Wish.

Skarmory used Spikes.
Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Glaceon used Blizzard.
Skarmory lost 89% of its health.
Steven Stone's Skarmory fainted.
The wish came true!
Glaceon restored 21% of its health.
The hail continues to fall.

More spikes. Now I had my healing guaranteed, I used the most powerful Blizzard of the whole game. The bird, more fit for physical attacks, couldn't take it and fainted. 4-4, a drawn.

Steven Stone switched in Bronzong (lvl 100 Bronzong).
Glaceon used Protect.
Glaceon protected itself!
Bronzong used Sandstorm.
The hail stopped.
A sandstorm brewed!
The sandstorm rages.
Glaceon is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Glaceon lost 6% of its health.
Glaceon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Glaceon restored 6% of its health.

Not sure about what to expect from Bronzong (I forgot about that Sandstorm...) I used an useless protect, letting Steven to set up a sandstorm with ease.

Glaceon used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Bronzong lost 41% of its health.
Bronzong used Gyro Ball.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Glaceon lost 100% of its health.
Pryce Willow's Glaceon fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

But here's the deal: Glaceon knows HP Fire. It did great damage to Bronzong, but then the stupid chunk of steel hits a critical hit! Glaceon is down. 3-4, Steven on the lead again.

Pryce Willow switched in Mamoswine (lvl 100 Mamoswine ?).
Mamoswine was hurt by Spikes!
Mamoswine lost 19% of its health.
Mamoswine used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Bronzong lost 22% of its health.
Bronzong used Explosion.
Mamoswine lost 81% of its health.
Pryce Willow's Mamoswine fainted.
Steven Stone's Bronzong fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Again, I fall to the explosion trap. Not a lot to say. 2-3, Steven still on the lead.

Steven Stone switched in Empoleon (lvl 100 Empoleon ?).
Pryce Willow switched in Abomasnow (lvl 100 Abomasnow ?).
Abomasnow's Snow Warning whipped up a hailstorm!
The sandstorm stopped.
Hail began to fall!
Abomasnow was hurt by Spikes!
Abomasnow lost 19% of its health.
Abomasnow used Substitute.
Abomasnow lost 25% of its health.
Abomasnow made a substitute!
Empoleon used Agility.
Empoleon's speed was sharply raised.
The hail continues to fall.
Empoleon is pelted by hail!
Empoleon lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.

Abomasnow VS Empoleon. Sounds fair. I set up my precious substitute, while the penguin gets a needed speed boost.

Abomasnow is tightening its focus!
Empoleon used Ice Beam.
The substitute took damage for Abomasnow!
Abomasnow's substitute faded!
Abomasnow used Focus Punch.
It's super effective!
Empoleon lost 76% of its health.
Empoleon's Petaya Berry raised its special attack!
The hail continues to fall.
Empoleon is pelted by hail!
Empoleon lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.

Focus Punch wasn't powerful enough to kill the penguin. With the Petaya boost, a neutral damage Ice Beam could faint my snow monster, and I don't want that yet. You never know if he carries another Sand Stormer.

Pryce Willow switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Froslass was hurt by Spikes!
Froslass lost 19% of its health.
Empoleon used Ice Beam.
It's not very effective...
Froslass lost 33% of its health.
The hail continues to fall.
Empoleon is pelted by hail!
Empoleon lost 6% of its health.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 6% of its health.

Froslass proves her worth, resisting very well the Ice Beam damage.

Froslass used Protect.
Froslass protected itself!
Empoleon used Surf.
Froslass protected itself!
The hail continues to fall.
Empoleon is pelted by hail!
Empoleon lost 6% of its health.
Steven Stone's Empoleon fainted.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 6% of its health.

This turn was fun. Protect to get some more health, and Empoleon dies to the Hail in the process. I love killing sweepers like that. 2-2, things are getting tight.

Steven Stone switched in Scizor (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Scizor used Bullet Punch.
Scizor's attack missed!
Froslass used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
Scizor lost 26% of its health.
The hail continues to fall.
Scizor is pelted by hail!
Scizor lost 6% of its health.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 6% of its health.

Here comes Scizor. Fortunately for me, Bullet Punch missed, grats to Froslass' amazing ability Snow Cloak. Blizzard didn't do much damage, but keep in mind Scizor was already wounded by Weavile.

Froslass used Protect.
Froslass protected itself!
Scizor used Bullet Punch.
Scizor's attack missed!
The hail continues to fall.
Scizor is pelted by hail!
Scizor lost 6% of its health.
Steven Stone's Scizor fainted.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 6% of its health.

Protect, with the same goal from before. To my pleasure, Scizor dies to the hail. 1-2, for the first time I'm dominating the battle, with my struggle paying off.

Steven Stone switched in Magnezone (lvl 100 Magnezone).
Froslass used Destiny Bond.
Froslass is trying to take its foe with it!
Magnezone used Substitute.
Magnezone lost 25% of its health.
Magnezone made a substitute!
The hail continues to fall.
Magnezone is pelted by hail!
Magnezone lost 6% of its health.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 6% of its health.
Magnezone's leftovers restored its health a little!
Magnezone restored 6% of its health.

Epecting Magnezone to give it all, I used Destiny Bond, giving the magnet a free turn to set up his substitute... another mistake that could cost me the match.

Froslass used Protect.
Froslass protected itself!
Magnezone used Substitute.
But it failed!

Now, I used protect, but Steven committed an error and ordered the magnet to use Substitute again. It couldn't hurt Froslass anyway, but still.

Froslass used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
The substitute took damage for Magnezone!
Magnezone's substitute faded!
Magnezone used Hidden Power.
Magnezone's attack missed!

I try a Blizzard to see if Froslass is worth it in the field. Abomasnow could be brought, since I was sure the magnet wouldn't have Sandstorm. To my surprise, it's enough to take away he substitute. Magnezone tries Hidden Power, which misses, thanks again to Snow Cloak.

Froslass used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
Magnezone lost 25% of its health.

Now this was a satisfying turn. Magnezone had a bit more than 50% health, and with his substitute and Blizzard damage, his health he is now down to about 10%. If only I could take that substitute down....

Froslass used Protect.
Froslass protected itself!
Magnezone used Hidden Power.
Froslass protected itself!
The hail continues to fall.
Magnezone is pelted by hail!
Magnezone lost 6% of its health.
Froslass's leftovers restored its health a little!
Froslass restored 3% of its health.
Magnezone's leftovers restored its health a little!
Magnezone restored 6% of its health.

Let me do a null turn, you never know if this annoys the foe and makes him do the wrong move. (yes "the", not "a", since now a wrong move had the biggest chance of costing the match).

Froslass used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
The substitute took damage for Magnezone!
Magnezone's substitute faded!
Magnezone used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Froslass lost 65% of its health.

We hit each other. Substitute fades, Froslass is majorly wounded. No matter, because Magnezone has almost no health and Froslass is faster.

Froslass used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
Magnezone lost 25% of its health.
Steven Stone's Magnezone fainted.

Another Blizzard, and it's the end of the magnet. What I wanted but didn't expect appears:

That, my friend, happens to the best of us. I also committed some stupid errors,

Like believing Weavile could survive to Scizor's Bullet Punch

Re: Steven Stone VS Pryce Willow

Cool stuff. Why didn't you use Forretress? Toxic Spikes would have gotten you an easy win.

Ahhh.... didn't come to my mind. Plus, we decided not to use Jirachi and Heatran for balance.

Or you could have at least used Pokemon they originally have...

Re: Steven Stone VS Pryce Willow

Actually, the focus was more on Steel vs Ice rather than Steven vs Pryce. Plus using the same pokemon would have made the teams too predictable.

Ok guys, another update. Since warstories, from what I understood, must have comments, I added some. Sorry if they aren't the best, since the match was 2 days ago and I could miss some details. Please note it's narrated in bold from my point of view.
