The opening ceremony just ended for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics! It was really nice :)

Are you watching this year's Games? Is there any event you're super excited for? Who will you be cheering for? (Are you lucky enough to see an event in person!?)

I hope I'll be able to watch basically everything LOL, but I'm most excited for the figure skating events and the women's ice hockey tournament! (Curling is fun, too.) I'll be cheering for the Japan and the United States like usual. I'm also really wishing Yuzuru Hanyu (figure skater) didn't retire from Olympic competition, he was really great. Japan's women's ice hockey team (Smile Japan) is pretty good, so they have an outside chance of winning, buuuut it'll probably be Canada or the US, lol.

Anyways... I'd like to hear your thoughts! :yay:

I've never followed the Winter Olympics closely. The one I've followed the most is actually the Paralympics since Argentina is quite successful in that event, particularly blind football.
I just went to check if Argentina qualified for anything this Winter Olympics, and we've only qualified for alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and luge lol. I hope we at least win something.

The only thing I’m interested in is the hockey. I won’t be watching it, but I’ll probably follow it. I really only follow the NHL closely.

I totally will be! The olympics is always pretty fun to watch. I've been getting more into watching sports in general this year, i had lots of fun watching the NFL playoffs lol.

I am not watching the Olympics, however, my parents are watching it all day, so I am hearing it all day long anyway...so. Sometimes, I'll peek in and see figure skating. I can't say I'm interested. Never really have been. I only find where it takes place interesting and that's it.

Yeah, I love watching the Olympics. Gonna be tuned in whenever it's on throughout the day. Nowadays I'm getting more interested in shorttrack because it's such a dynamic (chaotic) discipline. I will say the Winter Olympics don't interest me as such as during the Summer.

I'm not. It's not that I'm uninterested; there are just other things I'd rather be doing with my already pretty sparse leisure time at the moment. =( I did catch a wee bit of the curling when it was on at my parents' house the other day, which was... interesting. I don't think I've had time to properly dedicate to watching any of the Olympics in years.

Watched some curling at a restaurant last night; don't know too much about it but found it fascinating. The target in the center reminded me of either shuffleboard or bocce.
