Some of these were rumored, so I'm sort of repeating some information here, but there are a few that weren't nailed prior to this.

Rorschach will, as rumored, by played by Jackie Earle Haley.

Billy Crudup will be our Dr. Manhattan (apparently Crudup does the voices to those "priceless" Mastercard commercials, so...that should give you a good idea of what we'll be hearing).

Malin Akerman is now confirmed as Silk Spectre/Laurie Juspeczyki.

Matthew Goode is definitely going to be Ozymandias.

Patrick Wilson has been cast as Nite-Owl (the younger one, of course).

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to the be Comedian.

Source.

And...that's all for now. In fact...that's all of the major characters, so the only thing I'd expect to see are the older heroes and other minor characters, but I seem to doubt they'll be as "big" as these stars are.

Yeah. Another source (ComicBookResources.com) said that Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves wanted parts, but changed their minds after hearing that the budget wasn't going to be very big (though Snyder's supposedly using similar techniques to the ones he used on 300).

But, frankly, I like the casting choices. Especially Dr. Manhattan. I loved Crudup in Almost Famous, and if he uses his Mastercard voice, it'll be perfect. Haley's got a manic look already, and I think he could Rorschach off if he gets his personality to match. Akerman's the only one that worries me, just as long as Wilson and Morgan can gain some weight.

Wonder if they will do that thing with the pirate comic?

Also, does anyone know if they are doing it all in one movie or spreading it out? Otherwise it would have to be as long as pirates 3.

From the latest I've heard (being from a recent IGN overview of the cast), the pirate part is going to be a DVD extra, and Zak Snyder is looking at getting Gerard Butler to play the shipwrecked guy.

And in that same article, they apparently reveal that the older Nite-Owl will be played by Stephen McHattie.

And now we have Sally Jupiter, the older Silk Spectre cast. Superherohype has Carla Gugino in the role.

Also, from what the IGN report above said, it looks as if we'll see a lot of aging/de-aging of the actors as warranted, in order to show them in the various ages necessary for the story. In today's day and age, I don't see how they can screw that up.

Yeah, I knew about this about a week ago, it's been ALL OVER the interwebz.
It's a good sign, I think, the obscure actors. I just hope they do justice to the GN.
