IGN sums up several reports.

Jason Patric is in the running for Dr. Manhattan.

The site also hints that Snyder has a specific actor in mind for the role of the Comedian -- and apparently it isn't Gerard Butler. (Perhaps they can't work out Butler's schedule after all.) AICN wouldn't say who the actor was, but they hinted he was "a 'punishing' choice, and the actor brings a lot of comic book credibility to the role if he ends up playing it."

IGN seems to think Thomas Jane. My money's on Dolph Lundgren.

Patrick Wilson has intoned that he's playing Nite-Owl, but no definite confirmation.

Jackie Earle Haley (never even heard of him before) appears to be in the lead for the role of Rorschach. Wonder if he's going to wear a wig, grow hair, or just stay bald.

Interesting stuff, though I notice we've yet to see any rumors for the female roles.

I would be fine with Haley. He did get nominated for an Oscar, and he looks fugly.
So he fits the two qualifications:
1. Fugly
2. Excellent, but not superstar actor.

I would still prefer John Cusack as Nite Owl II.

Dolph Lundgren does look good with his top off...so he could be a good choice for the naked Blue Dr. Manhattan.

I wonder if we would get another "Rise of the Silver Surfer" bulge incident with this.

Looks like the reference WAS aimed at Thomas Jane. Jane's said he's interested. I'd still prefer Dolph for the Comedian. He has the bulk, and he's proven he can pull off that nasty attitude. Dye his hair brown and make him grow a mustache.

EDIT:

Apparently we have the rest of the rumored cast:

Source.

They also claim that the Watchmen cast will include Oscar winner Jeremy Irons (Eragon) as Moloch, Virginia Madsen (Sideways) as Sally Jupiter, Noah Emmerich (Cellular) as Captain Metropolis, Jonah Hill (Knocked Up) as Seymour, William Fichtner (The Dark Knight, Prison Break) as Detective Fine, Gretchen Mol (Rounders) as Janey Slater, and Henry Gibson (Wedding Crashers) as Mr. Figure.

Should be interesting once we get some confirmations.
