well i've always liked the idea of a sort of monotype team, but i've never got around to doing one
so here i am, doing one :)
now only 4 of the pokemon here are water, which is why it's not completely monotype, but this is simply a water based team, not monotype :)

this is by no means finished, i've fidled about a bit and tried it on smogon, and after a few failed attempts, this team is the one that wins consistantly.

lucario
adamant
focus sash
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 speed

swords dance
close combat
crunch
extremespeed

i LOVE this lead, and i'm use it on my normal team, and so am completely familiar with what to do against other common leads.

milotic

bold
damp rock
148 hp, 252 def, 108 spA

rain dance
surf
ice beam
recover

my wall and rain dance setter uper, and status absorber. pretty damn basic really :)

kingdra

adamant
life orb
252 attack, 4 def, 252 speed

dragon dance
waterfall
outrage
substitute

taken strait out of my normal team, makes full use of milotic's rain, and if i get in a dragon dance and sub, it can win me the game. only draw back is that it has to be used early, as it takes at least one turn to become anygood. but because of the lack of weaknesses, it is very rarely OHKO'd so he does have time to set up.

gyarados

jolly
life orb
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 speed

dragon dance
waterfall
earthquake
stone edge

my primary pysical attacker, and lure for electivire. might make this more bulky.

starmie

timid
life orb
4 hp, 252 spA, 252 speed

hydro pump
thunder
psychic
grass knot

special attacker, gains a lot of advantages from the rain, and fills a hole for fast special attacks on my team.

electivire

jolly
life orb
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 speed

thunderpunch
firepunch
earthquake
cross chop

hmm...team full of waters...we could really use someone to absorb all the electric attacks....OH HEY ELECTIVIRE :D i personally prefer the pysical electivire, but if you really think i should mix it up, explain why :)

so far, not doing too badly :)
obviously, a LOT of life orbs, give me some item suggestions for kingdra and electivire, but i want gyrados and starmie to hit as hard as possible :)

help me out :D

it does?

hahahahaha, is it similar to your old gym?

Yeah, with a few alterations, it worked for me...for the most part.

To absorb Electric attacks, you have Lanturn, Swampert, Gastrodon, and Quagsire. You don't need Electivire to do it. From the looks of it, you won't be changing your lead :p

The team as a whole looks good. I can't see any major problems. A Spinner might be nice though (Tentacruel?).

do they have advantages over electivire?
or are you thinking to have a full water team?

to be honest im not that worried about the whole water idea, as long as the majority is water.

and tentacruel! i forgot about the jelly beast, think it would work over milotic?
the earthquake weakness is an issue, but stealth rock can cripple gyrados, so rapin spin would be very useful your right.

any ideas about items?

iv perfect pokemon are annoying eh? ;)

oh btw, part of the reason for me using my lucario and kingdra are because i have virtually iv perfect ev'd pokemon already :)

Swampert can provide added bulk while still being powerful (Which would allow Gyarados to stay more offensive) but it was mainly for the Water theme :p

You're spamming a lot of Life Orb... try to switch it up. Starmie would be fine with Choice Specs. I usually give my Gyarados a Wacan Berry... it's saved my ass so many times. However, you want it to hit hard, so I'd give Kingdra Leftovers (Because of Substitute). Either that, or you could give Milotic the Leftovers (Or Tentacruel the Black Sludge) and Kingdra can run a double dance set (Rain Dance/Dragon Dance/Outrage/Waterfall).

tentacruel can work as a special defence wall, as it cn spin off stealth rock and spikes, set up it's own toxic spikes, and has ok attack. However, I don't like how you have so many life orbs. not sure what to replace, but I just don't like it. (However, I play more safe then sorry)

Good team, but may I make a suggestion? Get rid of Fire Punch on Electivire. It gets weakened by Rain. Put Ice Punch over it.

ah leftovers on kingdra would work very nicely, same for specs on starmie, i'll give them a go :)

as for gyrados, im gonna stick with life orb for now, but if he gets consistantly killed my bolts, i'll change it
i generally dont like running berries on my team because you need so many of them :/

and fire punch is my only real weapon against scizor, and it's not a constant rain team, but i see your point, i'll have to be careful

If you used Thunder on Electivire and switched the nature to Lonely, it might do enough to Scizor to, at least, make it think twice. Then again, what's Scizor going to do to Gyarados? Gyarados comes in on it, Intimidate knocks it down, and Gyarados resists both its STAB Attacks and its Superpower or Brick Break. The only thing it's even neutral to is Pursuit or Night Slash.

Also, since we're buds and all, figured you wouldn't mind if I showed you my new Ho-oh here :p
Ho-oh - #250 (Adamant)
HP: 30 Att: 27 Def: 27 SpA: 18 SpD: 31 Speed: 31

:D

you know your right about scizor, i'll give it a go :)

ah ha oh thanks for spamming my thread :p

wow, thats amazing for a legendary, do you battle ubers much then?

wowo looks like a good team if you want to battle me and test it some times message me or sothign

:D Definitely use this:

Bibarel@White Herb
252HP//4Spe//252Atk
Simple
Adamant
- Curse
- Waterfall
- Quick Attack
- Return

It's truly awesome (in UU).

I've never tried it tbh, but I modified the EVs for OU.
It'd be quite hard to get the Curse in, but it should be quite effective.

If u like monotype teams
recomend u it:

Empoleon
Starmie
Gyarados
Swampert
Lanturn
Tentacruel

Test it, is my monowater team n.n
