What type do you think is best? Will it be fire, with it's blazing power or water that is calming and destructive.

Although water may have an advantage it dosen't mean it is the best. I go with fire, my entire team in Leaf Green is Fire, which may or may not be a good idea, but it worked. The fact that most fire moves can also cause burn has saved me in a few battles. The power is (snap) fierce, and what they lack in defence they make up in speed, plus to make up for the whole rock, ground, and water problem two word,s solar beam.

But don't take my side! Take yours do you agree or disagree, the choise is yours.

Fire is a good offensive type and a terrible defensive type. Water is a fantastic offensive type and a terrific defensive type.

In short, Water > Fire

Water for me. It's my second favorite type, after Ground.

WHAT IS THIS MONSTROSITY?!

Fire all the way, bro! Here, from Bulbapedia:
Fire-type moves are generally powerful, with around half of its damaging moves having 100 or more for power and 17 out of 27 having 80 or more. While Fire is resisted by four types, two types are hindered by their own bad special defenses and relative scarcity therefore keeping their moves rather valuable.

Many Fire-types can now learn Grass attacks, which can make double resistances to Fire useless.

We Fire-Types are not useless. Even if our attacks are not Super-Effective, we can still kick your ass and burn you. And if that ain't enough, we'll do so much damage you'll feel it for the next week! Who's on top NOW?

I didn't say I don't like Fire-types, I actually like Fire-types. D:
Just... less than water. :x

I don't like Water because I say it's broken. But I don't like Fire either, mainly because my favorites are weak to it.

There's also how there are only a few Fire types I like while there are more Water types, but then again, there are more Water pokemon in general.

That said, the Fire types I do like are among my favorite pokemon... So I'll say that.

Fire types need a specific dual typing to be any sort of signifigant threat (like Heatran, Infernape, etc.) But water can be an awesome typing by itself or mixed with pretty anything else and still be awesome- Water is the CLEAR (hehe) winner here- I would vote for Fire against most other types though. Btw this reminds me of how much I really want a Fire/Water type Pokemon to exist. ^_^

They're my two favorite types! It's hard to pick. In my opinion they (along with ghost) have some of the best designed pokemon, some of the best moves, and the pokemon of those types are awesome in battle.

I'd probably have to say water just because Milotic is my alltime favorite Pokemon and in real life I am a swimmer and love the water. But fire is still up there.

Still Water.

It's only resisted by three types, one of which is itself. The other two are both conveniently weak to the quintessential Ice type.

Two Weaknesses > Three weaknesses

The rain abusers are far more broken than the sun abusers.

Generally have a nice balance between sweeping and bulk builds among their Pokemon (Feraligatr, Milotic, Lanturn, Gyarados, Swamert, Empoleon, etc) while still having some pure sweepers (ie. Kabutops) and some pure walls (ie. Jellicent.)

They are a very diverse type that can fullfill almost any role within a team. Fire types are sweepers and... that's it.

Not even all that great sweepers considering that, while still very much usable, they're outclassed by Fighting, Dragon and *drumroll please* Water types.

Hmmmm. Both types are very good, but I won't choose one. Poor Grass-types.

I prefer Fire Pokemon over Water Pokemon, because Fire Pokemon's designs looks really cool.

But if they were in a battle, Water would win, obviously.

It's a tie.

When you look at all the statistics, Fire is hopelessly outmatched. Less weaknesses, better (and more) Pokemon that can viably do more than just... sweep, and better weather with better abusers; the Drizzle + Swift Swim ban speaks a great volume of how effective it is. Oh, and Fire's weak to Water, so major advantage for Water in a direct fight.

Plus, although Dark is my favorite type, Water is an EXTREMELY close second. Fire? Meh.

In the end, Water.

Preach Mr. Jehovah! Preach!

I pick water because it's more diverse. The pokemons that belong to the water are more interesting :naughty:

And like Mr. Envoy said, water is a total package. Starmie alone can wipe out all your fiery as--- :goof:

Fire.

I can and always will pick fire starters and kick your Samorot's ass with my Emboar.

My Samurott uses Hydro Pump. If Emboar survives and has Wild Charge, it'll kill itself with recoil.

Here, I'm just gonna go with Water because even though they're less offensive than fire types, they can still usually survive hits while most fire-types can't, then still do good damage.

on top of that, water was my favorite type until I found out about Ice.

Its already been said, water. Its my favorite type and its got the better stats. Waters good for BOTH attack and defense, while fire is all attack.

All this hate on Fire just shows that what's the point of the type, along with Ice, Electric, and Rock, in the first place if they're always on the low tiers, thereby making them useless? Because of this, I am forced to vote for Water.
