I'm a rookie and its my first one so go easy on me =^o^=

On a dark windy night Ash found himself outside an old abandoned house in the
middle of nowhere. There was three roads leading away from it but as he stared down
the different paths they just led to a pitch black emptiness. Too scared to run down
any of them and getting nervous standing outside alone, he ran in to see if anyone was
there to help. But it was empty and all he could hear was loud creaking noises with
every footstep he took which made him feel even more nervous than before. "Anyone
here?" He asked, a strong tone of fear in his voice.

He sharply turned his head as a shadow jumped out of a corner and dived for him. Now
Ash was on the floor looking up at a dark ghostly figure in terror. He tried to back
away but a loud gust of wind made the entrance slam shut behind him.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice shook with fear
The mysterious shadow leered down at him with creepy grey eyes that shone in the dark
"Shes waiting under a silver moon... shes always waiting... dont lose her... drowning...
fading away"

Ash couldn't quite understand the warning he was hearing but he was too terrified to
pay attention anyway. A hand reached out of the shadow and plunged into his neck so
he gasped and shut his eyes, opening them again to wake up inside his tent, panicing
and springing up only to see pikachu and brock sleeping beside him.
"oh it was only a nightmare..." he muttered to himself, trying to remember the warning
the ghost gave him. His heart was still pounding from it because it all felt so real, as if
his neck was still searing with pain from the hand that almost choked him
A week before his nightmare he had a fight with Misty and he didnt see her since. Ash
began to recall it...

His Pikachu was just about to faint as a girafarig was rushing towards him to inflict a
headbutt attack, Pikachu dodged it and now the girafarig was running straight for Ash
at a speed so fast that it was unable to stop. On an impulse, Misty got worried and
jumped in front of ash to protect him.

"Please stop the battle!" she cried.
The girafarig crashed into misty and she lay on the ground knocked out.

The rival trainer looked blankly at her and called his girafarig back.
"Looks like you weren't worth battling after all!" He yelled. "You're just a weakling who
needs a girl to defend you. Come back when you learn to fight for yourself"

Ash glared at him as he walked away, then turned and ran to misty, still lying on the ground.

"Why didnt you let me finish my battle?"

Misty tried to sit up "I didnt want you to get hurt!"

"Yeah well I dont care what you think and I dont need you to jump in for me, I can look
after myself!"

"Oh well excuse me for caring about you! dont worry I wont let that happen again!

"Good! its not like you help me anyway so just dont even try"

That last sentance felt like a stab to her heart.

Misty picked herself off the ground and ran away from him with tears in her eyes.
"Why do I think about him so much?" she wept.
"He never loved me and never will.
Goodbye ash,
goodbye forever"

Ash spent the rest of the week feeling guilty about driving her away and now he was
scared that he'd never see her again.
"I should go for a walk to clear my head" he told himself.

He crawled out of his tent and it was a warm summer night. All he could hear was the
gentle sounds of waves in the lake beside him and silver rays of light from the moon
made the lake sparkle. "I wish she was here to see this..." he thought

He decided to walk around the lake to the waterfall at the other side because not
many people knew about that place. That way he could be alone to think of a way to
find misty and reconcile with her. "I wonder where she is now..." He paused and looked
at the starry sky, he could hear the waterfall faintly gushing in the distance and kept
walking towards it. The gushing sound got louder with each step he took as he watched the
lake stretch out to its drop in front of him. Then he spotted something. "Am I seeing
things?" He blinked.

On the rocks where the lake took its sudden drop, a figure stood there, with its
back turned to him.

Not knowing that he was approaching behind her, misty stood at the top of the
waterfall looking at the cloud of mist below her.

"Its such a big drop..." she thought, starting to feel nervous

She shook her head "but who cares? he doesnt want me here, I just get in his way. he'd
be better off without me"

She leaned out and took a deep breath "No more pain for both of us" she said, just as
she was about to jump-

"MISTY!"

She gasped and turned around.

and there stood ash, his eyes wide with fear, a silver glow shining on him from the
moonlight

"..Misty what are you doing?!?"

"Dont take another step! I'm doing this for you"

"But I care about you! please dont do this"

"No, you're clearly better off without me, I'm worthless to you!"

"Thats not true! I was just in a bad mood, I didnt want you hurting yourself for my

sake"

"No you care more about your reputation than me, maybe if you didnt care about
battles so much then maybe you'd see what was right in front of you all along! All I
ever did was try to help you because I worry so much about you, but you pushed me
away! now if you'll excuse me..." She trailed off and turned around before she could
say too much

Tears began to well in ashs eyes and his heart filled with pain as he tried to walk to her

"but-"

"DONT touch me! I'm doing this and thats final"

"....So you're gonna jump if I come closer?"

"Thats right." Mistys voice began to shake. "But even if you dont, I'll jump anyway"

Ash shook his head "You cant! I wont let you" and he desperately ran towards her

Misty heard his splashing footsteps getting louder behind her so she so she leapt out
into the air to jump. Her stomach got butterflies as she was hurling downwards to the
jagged rocks. Then she felt something grab onto her

She looked behind to see ash smiling at her with tears in his eyes and his arms wrapped
tightly around her waist

"If you fall then I fall with you" he clung to her and rested his head on her
shoulder

Even though the wind cut through her like a knife as they were speeding to the
ground, her heart softened and she suddenly felt warm inside, despite knowing that
they were staring death in the face.

They plummeted and missed the rocks, landing into the deep freezing water instead.
There was a loud crash as they plunged in and the force of the water separated ash
from her as she started to drift away. Ash paniced, grabbed her wrist and started to
drag her out of the water before losing her again.

Misty lay on the grass soaking wet, unable to move. Ash put his hand to her damp
forehead, she was so cold, it felt as if he was touching a corpse. "Misty..." he
whispered, brushing her hair away from her face "Please wake up" she looked so
lifeless. "I'm.. sorry" he wept.

At first he was worried he'd lose his friend, now he was worried that he might lose her
permanently. A tear trickled down from him and splashed onto Mistys face.

"I dont know if you can hear this but you mean a lot to me" he told her.
He paused and thought to himself "might as well tell her everything."
He closed his eyes tightly and started to tell her more, he couldnt look at her face
while saying it, even if she was unconscious.

"And all week I was so mad at myself for hurting you, one of my best friends. If I lost
you or anything happened I dont know what I'd do. You've been with me since day one,
always telling me to snap out of it when I doubted myself, pushing me to get where I am
today. Without you I wouldn't of gotten this far, you know."

"Oh really?" Chirped a familiar voice smugly.

Ash opened his eyes and there was Misty, eyes half open, smiling up at him weakly

Ash jumped back a little. "How long have you been awake?"

"Oh long enough to know that you wouldnt of gotten this far without me and I'm your
best friend" she grinned.

Ash blushed a little "...well, its true"

Misty sat up and hugged him, she felt so wet and clingy but it made Ash feel happy to
see her awake again. "And you're my best friend too" She reassured him

Ash pulled back and brushed her damp red hair away from her face "even though I'm a
stubborn idiot?"

"Yes" she giggled.

There was a brief silence before they both laughed.

Ash spent the rest of the night telling Misty what she had been missing out on all
week, how things didn't feel the same without her around and how much he missed
her. Misty was usually annoyed at him for being so talkative when she was trying to fall
asleep but this time she was keeping her eyes half open with a smile on her face to hear
everything.

The morning light came and Ash stood up. "We should get back to the tent, I'm
freezing and all my dry clothes are there"

"Oh right" said Misty looking down at her damp clingy clothes "I'm gonna catch a cold"
she grumbled

Ash started walking and turned around to call her "you can borrow my extra clothes!"

Misty smiled and came to his side.

"You're probably weak from last night too... want a piggyback?" He grinned.

"Umm..." Misty looked down at her shoes and blushed, but before she could protest,

Ash caught her from behind and pulled her up onto his back

"Ahh! Hey, watch it!" shrieked Misty.

Ash faked an evil laugh and started running with her.

"Put me down!" She demanded

"No way!" he gasped. Each footstep felt like a Donphan stomp to him, but he was
determined to make Misty feel like she was one of the most important people in the
world to him

Misty peered over his shoulder "You run surprisingly fast for someone carrying a person
the same weight as you, you're not as lazy as I thought!" she stuck out her tongue at
him

"Oh yeah? Watch this!" Said ash proudly as he started to run faster

"Hey slow down!" Laughed misty, she bounced around trying to cling onto him.

"We're almost here anyway!" he gasped as they got closer to the tent

Brock and Pikachu were sitting right outside it having breakfast

"Misty, what a surprise! and where have you two been anyway?" grinned Brock raising
his eyebrow

Misty quickly released her grip from Ash's neck and jumped down.

Ash sat and munched on some breakfast "Waterfall"

"We were just looking at the view" blushed Misty.

Brock wasn't buying it "Whatever you say" He chuckled

"Hey its true!" yelled Misty. "Tell him, Ash" she ordered.

Ash emptied out his backpack tp get dry clothes "Yeah, Brock we only went for a swim.

Heres some dry clothes, Misty"

She held his warm tshirt close to her and blushed "ok, I'll be back soon, I'm going to
get changed" She opened the tent and turned around "and thanks Ash" Her face went
a pale shade of pink

"Urgh, please I just ate" Sighed brock.

Well, for starters, there's no reason to be afraid of the shift key. It makes letters capital, after all, and you have a lot of undercase where it shouldn't be.

And how did Ash *get* to the abandoned house in the first place? You make it sound like he just warped there or something.

well, its his nightmare, anyways I'm aware the grammar sucks so I'll be fixing that, I just wanted to see everyones reaction to the first part so I could work on it in case the storyline seemed confusing or w/e

It's pretty good. I've always been a fan of the mysterious warnings and such hinting at things that may happen.

Just take into consideration what Blackjack said---fix up the grammar and try to flesh out your plot's events a bit more---and you'll be a-ok.

EDIT: And I like your title, too :)

alrighty, will do! ^^ and I just looked over your return of shadow fanfic, its written so well and I'm super jealous T_T I knew there was something wrong with my first paragraph which is why I posted it here because I couldnt put my finger on it >_< but now I know where to work on it, thanks for the help everyone =^o^=
