WB to shut down, new network in its place

yep. Pokemon will still air. Just upn and WB merging. Smallville better stay on the new channel.

I don't think there are any fears about the US not getting new episodes. This could lead to some changes, though.

And the stupid bastards couldn't have done this two years ago and saved Angel?

Damn them.

It's a good move for me. I've been having to deal with an NBC network that shows WB shows when it feels like it.

Huh, wonder if this means I'll actually have a shot at seeing Pokémon on TV again, given that I currently get UPN but not WB.

I just hope we don't lose our local affiliate over here... I'd be screwed then.
Wait, so the WB affiliates will just get the new network, right? We've got both the WB and UPN over here, so I shouldn't be too screwed... someone's bound to pick it up.

EDIT AGAIN: Oh, I'm not screwed, hopefully, since our local WB affiliate happens to be owned by Tribune (um, my dad would have a job otherwise). Woot for me.

Well, we have The WB.

So, I guess this just means it'll become the new channel or something.

Anyway, I should still be able to see Pokemon.

Although, I hope they keep it at the same time.

Because, that would be weird and confusing if they changed all the times of their shows around, just cause of that.

Let me just say that UPN had it coming. What, the only good show they have on there is Veronica Mars? Yey, capitalism.

Doesn't this really belong in the Entertainment Forum, given it doesn't pertain directly to the anime?

Oh, and Vinny, what kind of changes are you talking about?

What about Charleston?

Aww, I don't see Charleston listed anywhere on there......

Maybe I should check my local WB affiliate's website, and see if they have any information about what's gonna be happening.

Just in case any of you are worried:

The plan includes two hours of programs in prime time each night Monday through Friday and three hours on Sunday evening. It will also offer programming on weekday and Sunday afternoons, and five hours of children's programs on Saturday morning.

Barry Meyer, the head of Warner Bros., said the network would be run by the current executives of UPN and WB.

UPN doesn't have a kids' block (as far as I know), and Kids' WB!'s block is exactly five hours long, so I think that's pretty good confirmation that nothing will really change as far as scheduling goes. The only thing that'll really change are the bumpers, since the "Kids' WB!" brand will, for all intents and purposes, no longer exist.

Is there a possibility that the eradication of Kids WB could effect the animé in any way? I'm refering to all those weird little edits (such as the badge case rectangle and Harley's smily face) that don't seem to occur outside of the US.

Fat chance this'll really change much in terms of the anime under the guises of "Kid's CW." I doubt CBS is going to touch WB's children's programming department since CBS doesn't have much of their own children's programming department themselves.

Reread the part I quoted:

Barry Meyer, the head of Warner Bros., said the network would be run by the current executives of UPN and WB.

Therefore...I'd say no. Nothing will change.

I have cable, so chances are, I'll be getting this network from wherever it is. It's on WGN, I know we get that. I remember when the WB was on WGN... Oh, we have both a UPN station and a WB station down here, though. I don't know what this is going to do to them because we obviously can't have two of the same network going on here.

If people post what market they're in, I can probably at least give you a prediction of where it'll end up.

I only listed the Top 60 markets. So in Charleston, WV (which is number 64 or something), it will probably appear on WHCP-30, since there is no UPN station there. Of course, if you're watching with an antenna, WHCP is on a repeater on channel 45, WBWV-LP or something like that.

Also, it will only appear on WGN-9, not WGN-National.

Trip, could you please check the Springfield, MO market? I'm worried we won't get it. WB here is ran by Equity and our UPN is ran by the local NBC affiliate, so it isn't looking too promising. The local WB website mentions the change, do you think that means they'll run the new station?
