If the monarchy is removed, there will be disorder. And I postulate that my subjects even now have free will -- they can go about their business as long as they remain within the laws, which sounds just like the sort of system you would be putting in place. Is it worth it to lose the stability of monarchy to the throes of anarchy?

By definition a monarchy prevents free will. Without the ability to choose their leader, to depose a corrupt leader... the ponies of Equestria will never be truly free.

Ponies should not fear their governments... governments should fear their ponies.
 
I postulate that the removal of one queen would only give birth to a thousand tyrannies. Not the light, distant tyranny of one ruler who rarely exercise power, but the everyday tyranny of divided ponies seeking to harm those they see as "the adversary" and those ponies whom they believe chose a corrupt or inefficient leader to lead the nation.

For that is the choice before us. When people chose their leaders, they become divided over which leader to have. When they become divided, and suffer defeat, they become resentful. When they become resentful and meet those whose action they blame for the downfall of the nation, they become hateful. From this hatred are born a thousand little local tyranny, and a nation where pony does not know pony.

The overthrow of the monarchy will not result in the reign of Discord, but in the everlasting winter of the Windigos.

I object to this ridiculous "democracy" idea Connor Kenway is spreading. I am not sympathetic to imprisonments on the Moon as an application of Monarchy.

I will not betray Princess Celestia for some dubious idea of every pony chosing their leader. That say nothing of legitimate claimants to the throne presenting their claim to it.
