Weakest type?

Based on both Pokemon and moves, which one of the current 17 elemental types do you think is the weakest?

I'd have to say Poison, at least when it comes to offense. They have only one advantage, abundant weaknesses, etc.

Next in line are Grass and Bug types.

Poison. The poison status is decent, but the type itself, and the moves aren't so hot (apart from toxic)

Agreed with Giygas, Poison is just sad when going on the offense. It's GOOD as a status inflicter if the enemy isn't Steel or Poison itself. Toxic is ugly if you don't fix it, and Toxic Spikes can ruin someone's day if done effectively.

Next would be Grass types. Shame, too, I like Grass types. But they aren't particularly useful.

Yeah, I'd go with Poison as well. Sucks because its one of my favorite types.

I pick Poison, after that it's Normal or Rock.

I say Poison. It's really bad as an offensive type (it hits only one type for supereffective damage (Grass)).

In terms of usage this wouldn't be true, but with defenses, yes. They may be the only type besides Dragon to beat Dragon, but they mostly are weak.

Poison, Bug, and Grass are next.

Poison is abundant. But, speaking of early on in the game, it's probably rock, since as we saw with Brock and Roark, if you picked grass or water, you've won. And if you picked fire, then you've probably learnt mach punch in gen 4 or caught something that does good damage against it otherwise.

Its Rock first, then Grass.

Poison, definitely. Mostly when it comes to moves. It's only super-effective against Grass, and there are lots of Grass/Poison-types out there. Toxic and Acid Armor are its only saving graces.

They just need to add some more types that poison is super effective against. Maybe bring back gen 1s poison super effectiveness against bug? [While we're at it, flying should be super effective against ground again]

Defensively, grass. Oh grass/psychic.

Maybe normal. Maybe. But none of them is truly weak. It just depends on the situation.

Ok, poison has 2 weaknesses and a supereffective, but it has 4 resistances, one to fighting

poison isn't to be used offesivly, it's immunity to poison and the resistances, plus the fact that there are...2...poison types without another type, you don't even have to rely on those for STAB attacks
and crappy moves? may i introduce you to Poison jab, Toxic, Toxic spikes, Gunk Shot, and poison fang?

However Bug has 3 supereffective attacks, 3 resistances, and 6 things that resist it....6. Six types resist bug, and 3 are supereffective agaisnt it, bug is the worst

I have to say poison. Super effective against only grass, which likes to team up with other types. I mean, the status effects are great, but the actual attacks?

then why not bash normal? It's super effective on No types! it can't give or ressist any status effects either.

Fire type is probably the weakest defensively. It's weak to Rock, Ground, and Water, which have a variety of solid pokemon in it. The main problem with fire types is that the pokemon themselves are usually not that good, with exceptions like Heatran. A lot of them also have those dual typings that give them even more weaknesses.

Offensively, I would say Dark type. Most Dark types are strong physically, and don't benefit from a lot of STAB. (keep in mind this is coming from someone very unskilled with DP metagame).
