OK, maybe the first question doesn't go here, but I have a few questions related to Pokemon Emerald as well.
1.- Recently my GBA SP does a soft reset on its own, I thought it was something to do with the AR device since the power LED used to blink between green and red more often while using it; I had a few soft resets in Leaf Green and Emerald at the worst moments (such as catching Relicanth and Wailmer).
But the last time it happened I wasn't using the AR device, while observing an old friend's GBA he lend me to transfer pokemon I noticed it was prone to soft resets as well because the power switch seems to be a little loose.
Could it be related? my SP is not even three years old.
2.- Continuing with the AR stuff, I was activating my tickets, putting the code, saving, turning off the AR and soft reset to check if it was working (it was), but then after catching the first pokemon (Latias, Ho-oh and Lugia) I had one of those horrible crashes when I turned the AR off after saving (just as I activated Birth Island and Faraway Island), I said "oh well, let's take off the AR then.
When I put the Emerald cartrige on the GBA it showed the logo and then kept a white screen, I panicked, but then I just put the AR again and it booted normally, even though I was missing the Mistery Gift option (I activated it earlier in the game), my tickets were working, anyway, I activated Mistery Gift again, everything seemed normal, but after checking my Trainer Card I had a Battle Pyramid gold emblem, do they share some kind of data or maybe it was the "white screen" crash?
I hope it doesn't matter too much as I plan to get the symbols anyway, maybe it will revert to silver first.
BTW, my Emerald now works as usual even without the AR device on, but it scared the hell out of me when it wasn't booting from the logo.
If anyone can help me with any possible answer for my soft reset problem or knows anything about those glitches I had, please reply.
And avoid comments about "you deserved it since you cheat", I live in Mexico, there won't be any official events here and I like to complete my pokedex, besides, I can't expect any reasonable trade in GTS/WiFi instead of migrating my Gen III pokemon.
