Disclaimer: The choice of the server name was Archaic's and had nothing to do with me.

This is Bulbagarden's new dedicated server, Erika. Though it is a less powerful machine than our previous shared server, the fact that there are fewer users should mean that it is sufficient.

Of course, it's not just that there are fewer users. We've also tweaked settings and installed software to make the whole system faster. Be sure to also thank PPN Steve and Edward_K for giving us tips and helping us set up the server.

For those of you located in Kansas, you may find Bulbagarden a lot snappier. That is, of course, because Erika is in Kansas. Previously, our servers were located in Texas.
 
It's a little closer to good old Michigan and runs like a bat out of hell. Good job.
 
I'll be re-enabling some of the more load intensive features of the Bulbagarden forums over the next few days-weeks, just to see how much load we're actually going to be able to put on this baby. At the very least, we'll be back to the features we had up 2 weeks ago. At best, we may go back to all the features we had at the start of the year, plus a few new ones.
 
SCORE FOR LIVING IN KANSAS... woah, I never thought I'd say somethign like that. Ah well it is now worth living here for a decent reason now.
 
God knows, I've complained before how slow things have been. This seems pretty snappy to me. Of course, I'm waiting to pounce.
