I want to get into more Pokemon games but I've noticed a pattern where (at least more recently) that Pokemon villains have not been as great as before. I haven't played ZA yet so I dunno about that but are there any games y'all enjoy for the villains? Or just the general plot line because I really enjoy story based Pokemon games and the main antagonist plays a big role for me in if I'll like a game. And honestly I'm kinda curious on what the general Pokemon community enjoy about the villains from the games (main games or spin offs and whatnot) :-b

although i do overall enjoy the villians from older pokemon games most of the time, Volo from Legends Arceus is probably my current favorite villian in the series personally, he's very interesting of a character to me. Although his villainy is only really fully explored in the post game.

My favorite is Team Plasma. Ghetsis spreads the lie to his followers and the general public that their purpose is to liberate Pokemon, but is all a ruse to disarm the overall population and take control of the Unova region. The most interesting part to me is that N and some other members actually believe in the cause, which reminds me of how cult leaders manipulate people to achieve their own agenda. By the end is concluded that it is okay for Pokemon to remain with their trainers and compete in battles, but nonetheless it poses an interesting question. What if humans are not treating pokemon ethically even though the pokemon seem to enjoy it? It gives people like me something to think about. It is one of the few times were I honestly enjoyed a Pokemon game for more than just the battling, catching and exploration aspect of the franchise.

Honorable mention to Lusamine.

I love team plasma! I enjoy black and white 1 and 2 a lot and find Ghetsis to be such a cool character. I need to replay it cause it’s such a cool game. Also Colress is so well desgins in black and white 2 and in Pokémon ultra sun and moon

Just finished playing legends arceus actually! He’s pretty cool and I love the idea of his character and it’s pretty refreshing to see a character like that in a more recent game and I gotta replay the game again for him

Team Star! I was bullied throughout my school years, and I was struggling to cope with that experience when Scarlet/Violet was released. So Team Star's story really resonated with me, and it helped me process my own bullying. Also, the bosses all have cool designs and a lot of personality. In addition, their friendship is just sweet. (Reason is hard to explain without revealing major Scarlet/Violet spoilers).

That’s actually a really interesting concept for a Villian team. i might look into it, maybe watching a gameplay video of scarlet violet cause I’m saving money tho lol also I’m sorry you were bullied and I’m glad you could find solace in that sorta media <: -)

I don't have much memory of my time playing Sun and Moon, but the concept (and music) for Team Skull is still unbeaten. Dealing with common thugs who are concerned with petty territory and lame goals is perfect because it's so hard to do wrong. I have so many complaints with the way certain teams are portrayed like Rocket, Flare, etc, but how can you even criticize the pure simplicity of a goofy street gang who bothers you because they can. Outcasts joining a gang is why street gangs exist, at least historically here in the states. Ethnic ones especially cause of all of the systematic racism and whatnot. I like that about them, they're not gonna take over the world, they're just gonna see you walk by on your way to school and say "Let me hold a dollar."

Ten years and I still choose my Aether Foundation. The concept of scientists and conservators getting corrupted was executed well and their backstory is intriguing.

Honorable mentions to Team Aqua, Rainbow Rocket (Happy pride!) and Team Star. I feel Star would be a strong contender for second place as it has great story and characters but the "grunt" outfits let it down with how basic they are.
