What belongs in the Hall of Shame?

I've gotten a lot grief about threads I moved to the Hall of Shame. So, what do you fellow members think qualifies as HoS worthy?

BTW, if it isn't in the Grotto, don't mention it. I'll give you a short vacation if you do.

Any thread that makes you wonder about the sanity and/or sobriety of the OP the first time you read it is HoS-worthy in my opinion.

Really though, I've seen nothing wrong with your Hall of Shame decisions.

Yeah, nothing wrong with your HoS decisions.

To me, the Hall of Shame represents those horrible threads that deserve to die, but it's too much of an honour to delete them. That is a Hall of Shame thread.

It's a thread where a poster (or posters) act in such stupid way that they deserve to be mocked

The key trick are

1)It must be the stupidity of a poster (I'd give an example, but you'd "give me a vacation" for it, since it was over in Real World...), not a poster reporting stupidity (unless said poster do so stupidly).

2)Great care must be exercized in differenciating between strange and "wondrous" personality quirks (ie, Robquazza) and outright stupidity.

"WHY is NOBODY REPLY to MY POST!" is stupidity. It shows an inability to grasp the basics of internet forums - people don't reply to posts because the posts don't interest them. That is Hall of Shame material, because the original poster is guaranteed to get mocked for his stupidity.

A quirky, strange introduction post is, well, quirkiness. It shows either an insane mind (like three-quarters of people who post on internet forums, I might add), or a strange sense of humor (and there's nothing wrong with that). That's not HoS material.

Dont let BBP (aka current persona Evil Figment) bother you, this guy loves to say hes neutral and hes somehow above the fray but hes one dirty little bugger mucking round in the dirt. The only thing is he isn't that little.

And don't allow others to tell you what to do, even if it is a slight mistake on your part, because once you do that, people will lose respect for who you are. Pokemon forums always contain their politics and lets face it utter bullshit with some people seemingly attacking you for no reason, whilst others pretend their innocent bunnies. The key is to always believe in what you do and never let anyone tell you otherwise. And never let someone question how you moderate no matter how much of an arsehole they are, unless of course you abuse your powers which, is a whole entire matter.

But like I said before, Archaic or someone should probably put the forum description back for a little. Due to the lack of a description in the forum it's not really your fault, because I mean, all you have is the name "Hall of Shame" and that's probably part of what brought on moving that Real World thread in the first place.

The Robquaza thread though may have not fit, but it's more of a easy-to-miss misunderstanding that another mod probably would have made.

What I am, however, is a "bunny" who was head administrator of the forums for about three years, and thus a bunny who actually know what the Hall of Shame is supposed to be about.

I'm also the guy who has tried to answer Gadfly's question to help him understand why the rest of the staff (and myself) have been challenging his decisions regarding what to move to the Hall of Shame.

If I wanted to play politics, I have better way to do that.

That would be you, Zak and Kasumi who moved the Victoria thread back into the Real World forum. If anyone else on the staff has challenged me, feel free to inform me.

EDIT: firepokemon, what does BBP mean? I remember Damien Silverblade and I know there was something else before that, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.

And Zak, I would never ignore Firepokemon particularly when he's bitchy. Bitchy FP = Funny FP :-D

I don't think any of the rest of the staff actually directly tackled the issue with you - because most of them rarely pay attention to Real World and HoS, and because there wasn't any point continuing the fight once Kasumi moved the thread back where it belongs.

The main things we should put:
1. Posts with such stupidity a spambot didn't make. (e.g. this)

We shouldn't put:
1. Spambot threads.
2. Threads made by little kids.

I agree with you about spambot threads, those aren't that funny anymore, just delete those.

Little kids... well, I know it's not good taste to laugh at a little kid but sometimes those threads are funny. Plus, this is the internet. Threads made by little kids are at least real, so they're funny. Besides the point it's impossible to tell really when someone is a little kid so I say as long as it's funny put it in the HoS, regardless of the age of the person. Even as a little kid, they're making the choice of saying it on the internet on a forum populated by a bunch of teens and young adults.

Though sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between inexperience and complete foolishness/noobishness which is the way that 'Robquaza' thread came off. And if a little kid's post got sent to the HoS as a result, then that'll just teach them what isn't proper forum etiquette and perhaps make a slightly better member out of them. I also agree with fp's logic on this one. Just do what you've gotta do.

But if you really need to ask, I'd say don't hesitate either, at least for reassurance sake. It's not like anyone's going to chastise you for moving topics that vaguely resemble spam.

Oh, if that's what he meant by "little kids" that's different, but I wouldn't call the Robquaza guy an "inexperienced little kid" in making a joke, because all it was is a jesty introduction topic which people do all the time. It would be like me (or someone with my current name who was new) posting an introduction topic saying "You're all invited for dinner" or some random shit like that.

I think people get too offended when their thread gets moved to HoS. Its not like they get banned for it or anything. Re: which threads to move; I'd say if it looks stupid, and seems stupid..it is, and Stupidity belongs in the HoS.

Seriously, though, getting your topic put in the hall of shame isn't a big deal. I mean, if it is a joke topic, then it's obviously the Mod/Admin's way of putting an end to our shenanigans. If it is out of stupidity or Newbieness, no one's going to hold it against you in the long run. If it is out of stupidity of trolling... well.. alls fair I guess... but even so, if it is accidental, well, no big deal either. It isn't like it affects the reputation of the original poster. Personally, I think the gadfly's been getting a lot of grief over split milk.
