Chimchar had the most unique ability of all the Pokemon seen in the show. It took its Blaze to an entirely new level. Now the moments include; When Paul first saw it get attacked by the Zangoose and it unleashed its power to defeat them all, in “Chim Charred” when it activated it for the first time in Ash’s care, when Monferno went berserk after getting blasted by Hydro Cannon, Infernape’s power up during the match with Volkner when it first controlled Blaze (though it could be argued that at the last moments of being Monferno it controlled Blaze in order to use that energy to evolve) or the climax during the match with Paul in the Sinnoh League.
I would cast my vote for Chimchar’s Blaze in “Chim-charred” that episode goes down in My Top 10 favorite episodes of the Pokemon series. It was so dramatic that I could hardly breathe. Chimchar went berserk and set a forest fire, almost hit Paul with Flame Wheel and was ganged up by all of the heroes Pokemon.
2nd place goes to the one during the final gym match because it was so dramatic showcasing that Infernape finally controlled Blaze rather than letting Blaze control it. Though it is tied with Monerno’s Blaze before it evolved. It remembered the promise of it and Ash getting stronger together and their bond helped it control its Blaze for the first time.
3rd goes to the final match Infernape vs. Electavire, because Infernape won it was the end of two rivalries; Ash and Paul, Infernape and Electavire. It was the cornerstone of Ash and Paul’s time with Chimchar in an effort to see who could bring out the best in the little chimp.
During Ash/Paul 1st full battle, it wasn’t Blaze but Monferno’s determination that activated a “pseudo-Blaze”
