So recently I started listening to some bands and artists I never cared to listen in the past or I just wanted to see if I can fit MOAR songs on my iPawd. So I recently downloaded Kid Cudi, Pearl Jam and Kings Of Leon's CD's. I must say Kid Cudi and Pearl Jam has some good stuff, while Kings Of Leon I don't really...like.

So what artists or bands have you never liked or listened to before, but once you have, you were blow away by how good they were?

PS: I just wanted people to talk about things other then Pokemanz D;

I broke my robot (It will expand your mind to the point where it collapses)
CDR (Needs more press)
Jvox (Get his first album, I don't care who you are)
Negativland ('nuff said)
Guy Sterling (esp. his DJ mix for CRD and his album as Rank Sinatra.)
Swift Treweeke (If you've heard enough hardcore techno, he's as funny as hell)
And a lot more (I could ramble for a week.)

Dimmu Borgir. Holy crap I hated them so much for so many years, then a friend of mine gave me an advanced copy of one of their CDs, I listened to it, and it rocked, so I had to go back and listen to some more, and it grew on me :P

My top three played songs on ma iPod are

Folsom Prison Blues[live]: Johnny Cash

Layla: Derek and the Dominoes

Fell In Love with a Girl: White Stripes

All three are excellent bands/artists. I recommend you check out their work.

Hmm I never heard of any of those. What genera are they?

I broke my robot: Breakcore/IDM with glitch influences
CDR: Breakcore/IDM with influences ranging from hip hop to Kid606.
Jvox: IDM with ambient, minimalist and musique concrete influences.
Negativland: Experimental rock (think Residents meets Dead Milkmen)
Guy Sterling/Swift Treweeke: Both hardcore techno parodists, although they both have different modus operandi. There's a rare split between the two (vinyl 12") on System Corrupt, I think Sterling sells it.
Rank Sinatra: Cover artist who deals in 80's tunes.

And a bunch more...
Leafcutter John: Glitch, musique concrete, folk, chamber music.
John Oswald: Plunderphonics (the father of the style)
Duran Duran Duran: Breakcore/Gabber with 80's influences.

Everyone but Guy, Swift, and Rank should have releases on iTunes.

Rise Against. I have a disdain for punk music but once I heard them I honestly thought wow a good punk band. Finally.

Yui completely engages me everytime I listen to her.

uh... I can't think of any bands I've disliked and ended up liking. because I never do listen to bands I don't think I'll like/don't want to try listening to.
new!Antic Cafe is the first kind-of example to come to mind, though I only like 2 of their songs. old!Antic Cafe, with that over-loved and possibly bad guitarist just doesn't interest me at all .__.
it's from Japan though, so people who don't like not understanding the lyrics in music should probably stay away from it.

an old friend of mine introduced me to Capsule and COPTER4016882, whose music is this awesome electronic-y stuff, technically called shibuya-kei. though, Capsule's newer stuff is more dance/techno now. but point is, I just love almost everything those two bands put out. if you're into electro-ish stuff, then definitely try at least one song of theirs. FRUITS CLiPPER and 2D2D are amazing albums. *3* but again, Japanese band/group. although, COPTER uses English in 2D2D but it's really hard to understand and lyrics are hard to find. Capsule also uses it sometimes, but not that much.
