What Did You Write Today?

In Pokémon fanfic, would a trainer's Pokémon be considered main characters or supporting characters?
It depends on how heavily the Pokémon are focused on as characters, I'd say. I like to focus on the Pokémons' perspective, so in my writing, they tend to be main characters, but in other works that are more focused on the human characters, the Trainers' Pokémon might play more of a supporting role.

Would probably also depend on the story itself, I feel.

802 words today and some edits. Technically did write a bit more, but I had to undo all of it because I forgot an item in my outline (I also forgot the item before that item either yesterday or the day before).

Meant to report this yesterday but my internet has been so terrible lately that I couldn't last 10 minutes online without crashing or freezing. Anyway, wrote another Pokemon team for Battle From the Heart. This time it's Gillian's and Cam's Galar Teams (the reporters from SWSH). Like any good reporter they're always on the hunt for a scoop, and they (correctly) identify Geo's group for potential news stories (Team Galactic constantly hounding them certainly helps in that regard). I took some creative liberties with their teams. First, I increased their rosters to 3 each. Secondly, I replaced one of their original team members with new ones: Gillian gets Boltund and Flapple over Heliolisk while Cam gets Indeedee (male) and Toxtricity (Amped) over Togedemaru. They still keep Noivern and Klinklang, respectively, but I wanted to give them more Galarian Mons. These choices also possess utility functions (Boltund can be use for tracking, Flapple can scout certain areas, Noivern can carry them when they don't have access to a Flying Taxi, Indeedee can carry the equipment, and Toxtricity can recharge the equipment), so it makes them more multi-functional. While they're not avid battlers they can hold their own if push comes to shove.

About 354 words (and I think an edit or two?) today. Happened to look at the length of the chapter before I started writing and it definitely would've made the previous chapter really long, so it's good that I decided to split it off.

Wrote three more Pokemon Teams for Battle From the Heart. They are Prof. Dimm Wyt's Galar Team, Dr. Jerry Atric's Galar Team, and Al Dente's Galar Team (no points for guessing what their names mean). The former two are recurring characters who work together, with Jerry acting as the Cloudcukoolander's Minder to Dimm, while the latter is a COTD. Dimm Wyt is researching Max Raid Dens, and by extension Dynamax/Gigantamax, making something of a rival to Sonia (who never comes remotely close to her level of competence), while Jerry Atric both acts as an assistant and traveling medic (and keeps Dimm from getting in over his head, which is often). Meanwhile Al Dente is a curry connoisseur who travels around, trying out different curries from different cooks, with a food-based team to boot.

Meant to mention this last night but I had a black out that lasted for a while. Wrote one more COTD Pokemon Team for Battle From the Heart. This time it's Tossworth's Galar Team. He's a martial artist and his main Mon is a Throh who is Bea's self-proclaimed rival. I think you can figure out the origins of his name yourselves.

I also tweaked some Pokemon Teams for other characters. Most notably I replaced Mayfair's Alcremie with an Indeedee (female) that has its HA: Psychic Surge. She catches this Mon during a Max Raid (when the cast will be first introduced to Prof. Dimm Wyt and Dr. Jerry Atric) with fits her supporter role in the series. I also changed a few moves and natures from other Pokemon Teams because I had new ideas I wanted to try out.

880 words and some edits to finish the chapter. I need to go through some of the previously written stuff since I had to insert stuff that I forgot (did I say this before in a previous post?). Also, the chapter length is pretty decent, so it's not longer than I thought it might've been (does that make sense? brain slowly not working right).

Wrote another Pokemon Team for Battle From the Heart. This time for Agent Perry Scope's Galar Team (or just Agent P for short). He's a secret agent/spy who can basically be summed up as a Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass type of guy. He's good at his job and at battling but terrible everywhere else. He acts as sort of a rival to Geo because he's jealous of Geo's "protagonist privileges", if you will, like having connections to certain Legendary Mons, owning an UB, and even possessing a rare and special power with Lora (and that's before factoring in Geo scoring with Courtney). He's also a Casanova Wannabe who isn't afraid to hit on married women and he falls for Team Galactic's disguises and tricks, something that Geo and co don't do. All his Mons are named after detectives/spies/secret agents (or have names that would sound like ones), thus fitting his role. He's also one of the few characters who can actually adapt to Geo's unorthodox tactics, including copying Geo's Counter Shield technique, something that most Champion-level battlers struggle to do. I largely created him both to give Geo another rival (since Klara is only a rival during the IoA plotline and Bede largely gets knocked out of the picture after the events in Stow-on-Side like in the games and Hop is mostly a background character until much later, leaving largely Marnie as the main rival) and to give Inteleon some spotlight since Geo has Cinderace and both Courtney and Leon have Rillaboom.

Forgive the double post but I reworked a few Pokemon Teams for Battle From the Heart. Namely Courtney's Galar Team, Mayfair's Galar Team, and Team Galactic's Galar Team. In Courtney's Galar Team I swapped out Purrserker for Runerigus, and as a result I gave Victor her Purrserker. I also gave Victor's Frosmoth to Mayfair (giving it a nickname in the process), taking out her Cramorant, and instead gave Victor a Mr. Rime, taking out his Cursola in the process. I also tweaked their movesets and adjusted some natures, such as giving Mayfair's new Frosmoth both Snowscape and Aurora Veil to further her supporter role, giving Vivi's Toxtricity Uproar and her Appletun Rollout over Swift and Protect, respectively, giving Victor's Centiskorch Leech Life and Slam over Smokescreen and Bug Bite, etc. That should make things more interesting and give the teams more diversity that also works well with their respective fighting styles.

312 words today, split between chapter 6 and chapter 8. Wrote most of chapter 8 by hand because I couldn't get back to sleep in the morning and didn't want to have the screen on to type out what I had in mind. Won't be working on chapter 8 until I finish chapter 6 and 7. Oh right, had a lot of stuff to do, so didn't write much.

Because I woke up too early (damn early morning dreams strike again) I wrote three more Pokemon Teams for Battle From the Heart. Well, to be technical, two teams plus a general list. This time for Chairman Rose, Oleana, and the Macro Cosmos Employees in the same vein as how other villainous teams get done. I took a couple of creative liberties with their teams. First, for Rose, I improved his movesets, gave Copperajah Heavy Metal instead of Sheer Force so it can capitalize more on moves like Heavy Slam and Heat Crash, and gave him a Steelix to round out his team. For Oleana I did largely the same: improved her team's movesets and gave her a Vespiquen to give her a complete team. As for the Macro Cosmos Employees, their list of common Mons largely consists of what their in-game teams have but I also included some new ones such as Bronzor, Bisharp, and Doublade, along with improved movesets and new abilities in some cases. That should take care of the Macro Cosmos group.

Despite having a rough start to the day I was finally able to write the next chapter of Battle From the Heart ("Stormy Waters"). It features Geo's Gym Battle against Crasher Wake, along with the debut of a new combo technique (one that anime fans should already have an idea what it is). The next chapter features the Great Marsh Safari game, which will result in two new captures and a new rivalry will form between two Mons.

Some edits and 1002 words in chapter 6 today. Might end up being one short chapter instead of the two I was kinda hoping for, since I've already exhausted the outline for chapter 6.

Because I got up too early again (damn early morning dreams again) I wrote the next chapter of Battle From the Heart ("Swampy Safari"). This chapter features the Great Marsh Safari Game as the center premise. It also features two new captures: Jodi's Tangela and Vivi's Carnivine, a soon-to-be hostile rivalry between said Carnivine and Jodi's Vespiquen, along with some set up for later events. It also takes a few jabs at how the Great Marsh Safari Game is the worst Safari Zone of all and is rather infamous among the fandom.
