What do you consider the Golden Age of Pokémon.

Personally for me it was RBY (1st gen). Everyone I knew was into it and Pokemon was in high promotion on TV and in stores. It was "the" cartoon.

Everyone played the games. Pokemon was cool at my school.

Unfortunately I got into highschool the very year GSC released and people dropped out very fast. GSC gen was the first gen I ever had people say that Pokemon sucks and why would you play that.

I know alot of people would say it started RSE (3rd gen) but for me it was second gen that was the drop out at my school.

I wasn't keen on some aspects of the orignals GSC aswell so that didn't help.=/

RBY has the most good memories for me. The most amount of friends who were into it, no one actually ditched it and the cartoon was at it's peak. You had the cards and everything aswell. I was into the cards back then but stopped collecting the cards when 2nd gen started coming out.

I did try to pick up the cards again around LG and FR came out and then stopped then again when DP came out. Not many people are into them anymore and it's hard to get the urge.

Most of my bought things came from 1st gen to tell the truth.^-^;;;;;

When FRLG came out, and also when it was the Battle Frontier in Kanto. It was the Kanto that everyone loved had been remastered.

If by Golden age you mean when the franchise was at its peak, then I would say at the release of GSC, as that was still in the height of Pokemon popularity and Johto is awesome.

I'd say when pokemon first gen it was a fad all over the world c'mon nintnedo & game freak made millions from that!
it was really popular back then.
Franchise wise I'd say golden age was G/R/B/Y G/S/C.

The few years from the release of RB to the sunset of GSC.

The first four seasons of the anime, that is if by your question you're referring to its highest point in popularity.

I think the show was more popular then the games... my siblings watched most episodes and they didn't even play the games.

Definitely when Johto was created - the GSC games ushered in a new era to Pokemon - things like breeding & day/night times!!

Nothing like that has appeared since.

When it was super popular (Generation I and the beginning of Generation II.)

Yes! Thank you for understanding that Johto is best!

The Golden Age would be around Johto, maybe mid to early, but whatever. Hoenn wasn't, I know that for a fact.

lol Hoenn was mine, I know that for a fact. :|

but I know everyone else likes Johto, and everyone has different reasons with their own golden ages, so there's no sense arguing.
though I will agree if you mean by the franchise.

I just think Hoenn was significantly better due to like 200x better graphics, better Pokemon (imo), better people, and better berries. and the double battles are quite fun, too. and of course, Milotic!
only bad thing I see was that they didn't include night/day features.

For my country, anime wise, I'd say the first two seasons.
They actually aired the anime at 10 a.m., now it's aired at 7-8 a.m., instead of one we had 2 episodes per week, everyday during Holidays and a dub team with some quality. Since then, it was diclined.

The game, I guess it was RBY and GSC as well. Gen III was somewhat popular too, and it was when I got hooked in the game. The anime hooked me sooner, into the first episode.

My observations would indicate from the first gen up to sometime late in the second gen. By the time I first discovered pokemon forums, the second gen was already getting old and I think people were tired of the anime. That was in August 2002, well after we had already seen the first signs of the third gen. So I say some time before that. I was willing to think the fourth gen was going to instill a second golden age, what with it bringing in a lot of people that left at the end of the second gen. When HG/SS was announced, I said that there was no stopping all but the most hard nosed fans from returning and placing pokemon on top again. That is not what happened. Instead, I have seen the fandom degrade to incessant whining. It doesn't matter what it is, they complain about it. At this point, I don't know if people love HG/SS or hate it. What I do know is that the fandom cannot be saved. If this couldn't do it, nothing can.

From the beginning Kanto to early/mid Johto... it was truly a Golden Age!

Generation four for me, actually.

I guess you could say it's Johto, especially manga wise, but I'd say Shinnoh.

When Johto (Gold/Silver Crystal up until the end of the animé) came along.
The second the Ruby/Sapphire animé started Pokémon was...not so good. R/S were good, just the animé has gone painfully downhill.
