Since second and third have been done, I thought it would be appropriate to make a thread about what people don't like about Gen 4. Fourth Gen is my personal favorite, but I'm sure I can still come up with some things that were less then perfect about it.

Here are some common complaints I've heard that I don't necessarily agree with:
-Too many pokemon
-Too many legendaries

Here are some things that I dislike about it:
-Team Galactic. I just didn't really dig their style.
-Battle frontier. It wasn't as good as Emerald's.

I'll think of some more and post them later.

☺I don't like the fact that you have to trade alot to evolve some of the new generation 4 pokes.
☺Pokemon can only be seen during certain parts of the day
☺Routes 216 and 217(no bike ridingand it takes to long)

Not much fire types. It's not my favourite type, but a little variety would be nice. Also, too much legendaries! :/

This is true. Fire types have generally been screwed over in pretty much every game.

I do think there might be too many legendary Pokemon. I don't think I want to see even more legendary Pokemon the next generation - More than 14 would be a bit crazy! The break down by generation...

Gen I 5/151 = about 3%

Gen II 6/100 = 6%

Gen III 10/135 = about 7%

Gen IV 14/107 = about 16%

Total 35/493 = About 7%

Generation IV more than doubled the percentage of legendary Pokemon as compared to Pokemon introduced in that generation on a whole. And, in addition to that, it introduced less Pokemon total than Generation III!

Other than that, I'm a huge fan of Generation IV. I can't think of anything they changed that I don't like, really. I just wish they'd make it possible to EV train Pokemon that are already level 100 - It makes me worry, though I doubt it'll ever really be a problem for me.

Well, I really don't have anything against GenIV but what I really disliked about P&D is the surfing...You should know what I'm talking about.

Unlimited items. If they added a box storage it would work. You would still have room for items, but you could find them again on your computer.

1) They took out the Battle Dome in the Battle Frontier.
2) WAY TOO MANY USELESS, WEAK, AND UGLY LEGENDS (seriously, look at the dialga). They said legends were super-duper rare creatures?
3) Red > Lucas; he looks like a wimp
4) Team Galactic; clearly a cult made up of fanatics
5) Bidoof

I agree. It is annoying as balls going through all your items to find something. I think they should make an item storage system of the same design as the current pokemon storage system, where you see the items and you can pick up and move them and whatnot.

Another thing I forgot about. I had to be Dawn in Platinum because Lucas just looks so stupid.

I actually really like how Lucas looks, and I was pretty fond of Team Galatic. Lucas may be my favorite among the male leads, and Dawn certainly is my favorite among the females!

Then start a thread called "What do you like about Fourth Gen?" and post this there.

Negativity FTW!

- The fact that so many new Pokemon are simply new evo's for old Pokemon. I like some of them, and how they fixed some worthless Johto Pokemon like Aipom and Mukrrow with new evo's, but others were pointless.

Did Rhydon really need an evolution? Was Magnezone really necessary? Some of these new evolutions were ridiculous and unneeded.

- I'll hop on the "too many legends" bandwagon.

- Lucas has the most generic main character design ever.

- The BF should have been more fleshed out.

Way too many freakin' legendaries. :/ Seriously.

That's the same way I feel about the number of these kinds of threads coming up here.

Anyways, I felt the battle animations and movement in general was a bit slow. Surfing was a nightmare in D/P, I haven't gotten that far in Platinum so I can't judge it. But so far from what I've played of it the battle speed is faster.

To complete this fad a "What didn't you like about Gen.I?" topic should be made, though that probably won't fly well with people.

Legendaries: TOO DAMN MANY.

Route 216/217. We couldn't get a fucking snowboard or skis or something? And last time I checked, a 10-year-old child trying to walk in chin-deep snow in the middle of a blizzard would fall asleep and hypothermia would set in. Would have been awesome if somewhere around route 217 you blacked out or something and you woke up in Snowpoint.

Rivals: I'll appreciate it if my opposite-gender counterpart actually has a soul and purpose. Good lord Lucas, did Barry jump you and suck your soul out with a straw? Or at least you could battle me every once in a while?

Team Galactic: Was awesome. They were so cute, what with their playing God and genre-savvy grunts. Then Cyrus just goes and gives up without a real fight. He should have been the one planning some crazy wicked comeback after the endgame, not frikin Pluto. And he should have succeeded, for an end result of an epic high-leveled battle at the heart of an active volcano. A 10-year-old girl in a too-revealing coat should not have the genius leader of an insane religious criminal cult give up on face-off #1.

My least favorite thing was Rhyperior. They ruined Rhydon.

Actually, not that many things bother me about the Gen IV, seeing how its my favorite. xD

The only thing that grinds my gears are the lack of fire types and too many legends. Frankly, I adored Team Galactic and the new evolutions, which are badass and actually useful. I don't see anyone complaining about too many prevos in Gen II that have no use whatsoever.

Not to mention if you play as Dawn, you're walking around a blizzard in a mini-skirt.

Yeah...I'm sure GameFreak didn't think that through.

Actually plenty of people have complained about the Gen II prevos. Check the "What did you NOT like about Gen II" thread.
