I know there is this thread, but I wanted to add a poll.

So you were traveling, and you met a shiny pokemon. Or after hundreds of eggs you hatched a shiny pokemon.

What do you do with your shinies?

Mine are mostly for trading purposes and battling. I do have a few shinies that are rotting in my OR pc, but idk what to do with them. :/ Just keeping them for the dex entry.

Pretty much the fourth option for me. I really don't know what to do with the relatively few I've had, as I usually don't have room on already created teams and I usually prefer the normal-colored version. I guess they'll just sit in my PC for collector's purposes, though I do feel a bit bad. Maybe I might trade them for more desirable shinies one day.

Both option 1 and 2. I used to trade some for other Pokémon I want and only keep those I really like, but recently I've decided to just keep every shiny I get. They are kept in their own box in the PC.

I keep em,I've never found useful shinys or ones of mons I like

Shininess doesn't really matter to me, I'm the sort who'd pick a normal Pokémon with better IV's over a Shiny with bad stats. I have a Shiny event Gengar laying in my OR boxes became my normal ones perform better. It's something I might use for trades.

I never find shinies (literally only found five in my entire life. Two were in the Safari Zone and ran away, and one was on Poke Pelago who also decided to bugger off), so when I receive them via WT I am the happiest lunatic on the planet. I hoard these things like a dragon hoards gold and wouldn't trade them away for anything (well, if my boyfriend wanted one that's a different story. That's still keeping it "within the family" :p ). I think I've only ever used one on an actual team though, and that's only cause it had good stats. Like @Gengarzilla when it comes to actually using Pokemon, I prefer good stats over shininess (so into the PC they go to be hoarded and treasured forevAr~~).

Oh well, I guess I did trade like 2-3 shiny Raikou or whatever for something that I can't really remember, but I don't count those cause I had like five cause they happened to exist on a used copy of... Black I think? When I first got into the games it was around the time X/Y was coming out so I went back and bought all the older games so obs some of them would be used but I certainly didn't expect shiny legendaries on them ^o__o^;;

I don't think I've ever encountered a single shiny personally.
Not one.

Catch Shiny>Evolve Shiny to have all forms of shiny in family>now what do?

I catch shinies because they're rare. Though if I catch a shiny I don't care for I can see myself trading it once I have evolved it for completion sake.

I have over a box of shinies, that are primarily just for the sake of having them. I will not evolve a shiny unless I have another shiny of it or of its evolved form (eg I have a caterpie that I won't evolve until I have another one). I contemplated about using some in battle, but...meh.

I firstly don't know what to do with it. But later I try to make a collection. It's hard to make a collection with only three or four Pokemon. :p

I also try to use them in Contests, if I could. Shinies could give me the edge! :p

They chill in a box together and talk

Expect the Shiny Magnezone I caught as a Magnemite on day one of SM. It was in my team

Now that I have a bunch of shinies, I can actually say what I do with them: battling! Most of them, at least. The ones I like and can fit on a team, (specially my VGC team), it's in there. Otherwise, they get banked for a while, until I can use them on something, or possibly trade for other shinies or parent for future shinies.

If it's a good Pokemon or one I really like, I use it on my team. If it sucks, I just keep it in my box lol.

I basically have them because they are incredibly rare, and I usually only encounter them when I am chaining for Hidden Ability Pokemon. For example, when I wanted to catch a Moody Smeargle, I encountered one, so I focused on catching it since there might never be a second one again. Most of the shinies are kept as collection (though I don't mind giving them away for something special), but I sometimes use this particular Smeargle to breed Egg Moves, due to it being a male.

If this shiny Pokemon happens to have its Hidden Ability, that is even better because I like keeping Hidden Ability Pokemon. I have a shiny Rattled Meowth and a shiny Infiltrator Hoppip (that was received by trade). The only HA Pokemon that I have that I am willing to trade away is a Contrary Fomantis that hatched, since it didn't have Egg Moves (the reason I am breeding these Pokemon in the first place).

Other than that, if the opportunity comes by, then I could trade them away for something that I want.

Thanks for reading.

I usually train them; I caught or bred them, so I want them on my team at some point. Now, there are those that I will use as trade fodder--shiny Charmander, anyone?--but most of the time, I keep them.

If it's a shiny Automaton, it's never going anywhere. I'm keeping my shiny bots together. Because family.

It really depends on what the Pokemon is.
  • If it's a Pokemon I love (that random shiny Golbat, I'm lookin' at you) then I'll train it for battles.
  • If it's a Pokemon I kinda like I may train it for battles, but they're more likely to just sit there and look pretty (that shiny Torkoal is a great example (mainly because its Nature is too terrible to use for that Chlorophyll/After You crap))
  • If it's a Pokemon I don't like, or a Pokemon that I got traded to me, then I'll use it as tradebait for better 'mons/shinies I like that I can name (this is the fate of poor BlueKing the Nidoking. I love the bastard, but the name's killin' him)
    • If this fails, then they'll just sit around doing nothing (I mean seriously, who wants a shiny Swalot!?)

They really really unique; so I decide that I should put my team shiny in the BW, and BW2 in the Gameboy R4
