This thread is extremely relevant to my life right now!

And since I have no appetite anyway and I'm EXTREMELY BORED OF CANNED CHICKEN SOUP, I need suggestions on what to eat that won't make me have adverse taste reactions.

If you're sick, the general rule of thumb is to eat things that are:

a) full of vitamin C/D
b) easily digestible (easily digestible protein like eggs and stuff)
c) fluids that aren't too salty
d) probiotic like yogurt

also if you're sick you really should eat even if you don't want to!
i should follow my own advice but still!

I usually eat something spicy or very hot (if in really sick I just eat ramyun; lazy). Usually lets my nose run and usually unblocks my nose!

Last time I was sick my friends made me stewed pork, it was easy digestible and Nothing with the meal made me personally throw up!

Although if you're not hungry try something with menthol!

Edit: that same time I was ill, my friend tried to give me 15 eggs to take home (works at a chicken farm) but I declined because my dad would've eaten them. Protip: sick and offered 15 free massive eggs, take it guys.

If you have a stomach ache, Id say have things like toast, scrambled eggs or ramen, I think these things are easy on the stomach.I think things like chicken, rice, etc are also easy on the stomach too. I drink tea sometimes when Im sick too and it makes me feel a little better when I have the flu or something, just make sure not to drink things that are too sugary, that's bad for you when you're sick as well.

It really depends what you're sick with, I think. Haha.

I suffer from migraines a lot, so I don't eat ANYTHING then. Can't even fathom it. I just have to drink lots and lots of water.

Definitely stay hydrated, that is the MOST important thing!! So many people don't realize we need 8 glasses of water a day. But I digress.
Solid foods like crackers and toast are very good. Those are good because they are soft on the stomach and don't cause nausea much.

Soup is great for any illness, being warm, simple, and full of nutrition, but nobody wants that all the time! If you're sick of soup, maybe try some warm scrambled eggs or fish (tilapia is good)/lean meat if you can handle it. Being sick, it can be hard to cook, but there are numerous microwaveable meals that are quick and easy to prepare that will fill you with essential proteins (so long as they aren't stacked in sodium and junk!).

Applesauce is good, and if you can handle yogurt, that's good too. I'm somewhat lactose intolerant so that's iffy for me. Bananas are also great because of their Potassium.
As a snack, try some nuts or fruit/veggies like avocado!

Anyway, that's a few of my two cents from experience. I hope you feel better!!

Get better soon, @Aestivate; Hopefully you are feeling better already!

I love good old, classic chicken noodle soup when I'm sick. That, or Pho.

I usually just eat chicken soup with lots of vegetables in it, such as celery, carrots, onions, and what now. Also, I drink orange juice an ginger ale or tea if I can find it.

So, if your just sick with the usual symptoms (Headache, stomached ache, sore throat, ect.) try to stick to very light foods. If your stomach is unsettling, you could always try sparkling water or diet ginger ale to settle it (just dont drink to much or else you'll vomit) Clear liqueds usually clean you up so, chicken broth (I know you said your sick of chicken noodle soup so sorry! -_-) Definitly nothing thick like oatmeal. Hot vaporizers also help with sinus congestion. Honey an lemon ease sorethroat and calms down the coughing. Hope this helped :p

Chicken Corn Soup would be my first choice, can't get enough of it. I also like different kinds of pulses when I'm sick, they're neither too spicy nor too mild for my taste.
And I go for a hot (like boiled hot) mug of Milk. Weird, huh? But it works like a charm, for me, whenever I have a sore throat.

depends on the illness. I never get stomach bugs or anything, but flu is a different matter. I just paid for my flu jab because I'm so scared of getting it for the 5th time in 12 months....

Ok, so this is a drink rather than food. But I swear it helps my flu.

Pure orange juice
1 teaspoon of honey
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
2 shots of whiskey (although rum works ok too)
Fill the mug to the top with hot water
(if you have a sore throat, i add half an asprin too)

If you're underage, ask your parents for the whiskey, it is for medicinal purposes after all. The whiskey heats you up, sweating out the illness. It also knocks you out so you sleep it off. Honey is a natural antiseptic, as is lemon. Orange huice fr your vit c. It actally tastes alright too. I do this, then hide under 2 duvets. Im usually ok again the next day, or at least able to get out of bed.

As for food, anything with ginger and garlic in.

I eat human flesh.

Actually, I eat hardly anything to nothing when I'm sick. Once I went a day without eating, but then the medicine I was taking kept making me barf, so then I was just force-fed applesauce. I'd say eat whatever you feel like. It seems to work for me.

I normally don't eat/drink much when I'm sick, but when I have to...
-Dried cranberries
-flat 7UP
-wheat bread with nothing on it
-saltines
-water
Works for me.
except this one time a few years ago, I was so sick(food poisoning I think), I couldn't eat anything for 4 days without throwing up. That sucked.

Anything I can digest that won't make my sickness worse or cause me to puke. Usually soups such as chicken noodle and ramen with crackers on the side or in the soup itself. And tea or sprite or ginger ale to drink always seem to work.

Homemade chicken soup does the work if you're sick of the canned stuff, especially if you use some Orzo, good god Orzo chicken soup its like magic, or mash potatoes. Mash potatoes always work.

When I'm sick, I... I really go for the chocolate, pie, or chocolate pie.

I haven't had chicken soup in ages, haha. I guess I try a little more orange juice than usual when I'm sick.

I make something full of fresh vegetables, like homemade soup, and I make it spicy as fuck. Frequent consumption of hot sauce and horseradish always clear me up really fast. Lots of fruit, too. Especially berries.

As I HATE SOUP WITH A BURNING PASSION (and other similar liquidy foods) I find a good toasted chicken sandwich to be delicious when I'm sick. Also, apples.

I like to eat rice when I'm sick. It's a pretty simple food. Whenever we have them, pirogis are also great.

I really don't eat very much when I'm sick, actually. The only things I can stomach are toast and Italian ices, if we have them in the house. And the only thing I can drink is ginger ale; anything else just makes me feel worse.
