With Pokémon day just around the corner, what kind of things are you expecting or hoping to see from the upcoming presents? Do you see a new generation coming soon or a new anime to follow Horizons? Are you excited for the upcoming announcements? Discuss all of the above and more here!

As always make sure to avoid discussion of leaks and to follow the global forum rules when discussing unreleased content!

I'm pining for Gen 5 remakes admittedly LOL... Subway Masters in high definition when!? But I think that's kind of a 'what if' thing. My real answer is that I don't really know, honestly, since I'm not super invested in any one area of Pokemon? I just hope there's a lot of cute plushies in the background :enzap:

oh my god why did i say gen 10 remakes i meant gen 5 CRYINGGGG

my conspiracy theory is that ZA was originally a Unova tribute and they ended up overhauling it to Kalos!! I know we aren't betting on things that won't be there but I also don't think there will be an orre threequel alas

I would expect Gen 10 starters and more info on Champions. in my heart I will be here for the plushies and a mobile game more unhinged than Sleep or Smile.

I think the structure will basically be along the lines:

  • 5+ minutes of an anniversary montage
  • Mention of the Universal Studios park partnership
  • Random tv/web series update (could be one or multiple, but it's hard to guess exactly what as a lot is currently in the cards)
  • The usual Cafe Mix, Masters, Unite, Sleep etc. updates
  • Quick reminder of FRLG
  • Final Pokopia Trailer
  • New original Mystery Dungeon game (it's already been 6 years since the Rescue Team remakes)
  • Champions blowout + release date (April-ish)
  • and then finally 2 minutes top of Gen 10's reveal, with a tease on the region, player characters, and starters (basically how SWSH and SV's reveals went). Switch 2 exclusive

In terms of wants, I'll be stasified with just a gen 10 reveal with at least the starters, though teasing RSE coming later after FRLG were re-released would be a nice cherry on top.

I think minimum it would include these:

*Anniversary montage

*Updates for the mobile games and Z-A

*A New Spin-off (Either something original or Mystery Dungeon)

*Trailer for Pokopia and Champions

*Gen 10 Reveal (if not which is unlikely then something mainline)

Quick reminder of FRLG
If there is more then maybe an additional port for a later release such RSE

Gen 10 easily for sure.

Not sure if we'll get any anime news at all unless it's for a series similar to Generations or Evolutions.

Could see them finally mention the GameCube titles for the Switch online service.

And of course the small obligated bit of mobile related news.

I like to keep my expectations low for these things. I think my biggest reach this year is finally getting some news on that LA Netflix adaptation they announced a few years ago. It'd be nice to find out if that's moving forward.

But what I really want most of all is maaaaaybe a new music video? I think we were spoiled by Gotcha!! being so good as it was, not to mention all the Miku songs that have come out. I would love one of those. If they got Mrs. Green Apple to do the song, I think the internet would explode actually.

I would also loooove a Z-A anime ala Paldean Winds, but I feel as though they would have announced that already. Maybe they'll do another anime like Evolutions and Generations? I love game verse anime so much and I don't think its outta the realm of possibility here.

I would like to hear something on Gen 10, although I'm not sure if I expect it to release this year. Maybe get the starters/box legendaries too... Although it would be fun to go back to drip feeding us random Pokémon over the course of a year and not necessarily the starters.

This is more or less exactly what I'm expecting, though I think Champions will be sooner (VGC switches over in April so I think it'll drop on/close to Pokemon day to give serious players time to get used to it), and I think some kind of surprise spinoff announcement is likely though I'm not sure I'd bet on Mystery Dungeon.

I'd also throw in some miscellaneous events/distros. Maybe a 7-star Pikachu return in SV, something for ZA, things like that? I know they did a bunch of mythicals for the 20th but that seems unlikely for this one - given that they'd just made like half the mythical roster available behind a DLC paywall, they probably don't want to hand them out for free.

At the risk of sounding disrespectful/entitled, I was expecting more than what we got. Don’t get me wrong - I’m glad we got Gen 10 and I’m extra glad that they seem to be giving it a lot of attention. But I was hoping for more re-releases of older games in some capacity for the 30th anniversary.

It just feels like they didn’t make as big a deal out of it as they could have, but Nintendo’s weird like that. Mario’s 25th anniversary was just a re-release of Mario All-Stars on Wii, but then for the 30th we got Mario Maker which seemed like a bigger deal. And Zelda doesn’t seem to be doing anything for its 40th (!) anniversary this year.

Yeah, maybe it was because I knew gen 10 was coming (still fun to actually see it) but I was a bit whelmed. I wasn't expecting like 500 extra remakes and spinoffs but it felt very light in terms of little stuff like distributions and events and things. I felt like stuff for SV and PLA (beyond the Garchomp we knew was coming) were pretty likely. And some extra announcements, maybe something like RSE being announced as "coming Soon™" as part of the FRLG segment. Just extra bits and bobs to generate a bit more hype for the anniversary.

The Mario 40th was "here's a tennis game and another movie from the minions people, new 3D game never ever" so I guess we can't complain too much lol
