The ones that come with every generation?
Being oldschool, I can't say I like that pokes like Hitmonlee and Lickitung are no longer 1 stagers. I'm not saying I don't like the new forms, but meh.

Opinions?

Both of those Pokemon have evolution families already. Tyrogue evolves into Hitmonlee, and Lickitung evolves into Lickilicky.

That's what he said...

Anyway, I don't really think of the "changes" in Pokemon games as changes, but rather "expansions." While they still maintain the general vibe of the original games, there have been a couple of expansions to evolution rules; Leveling up, using stones and trading are now no longer the only primary evolution methods which is a GOOD thing! While those evolution methods still exist, the expansion of rules ads more diversity.

You can also see that the original Sugimori designs of Generations 1 & 2 have been expanded with different art styles. Gen 3 was my favourite Gen because it really diversified Pokemon designs.
The Pokemon Contests, the Battle Frontier and Pokeathlons offer some interesting side quests, which is nice because I can't see the games surviving as long as they did with JUST the Gyms and League.

TBH the games have become less and less approachable for me with every generation. IVs and EVs are just too much work, especially when everyone I know just uses Pokesav. I don't even attempt to battle anyone anymore because it would require too much grinding to build a decent team.

And, honestly, My teams in the second, third and forth gen have all been composed of entirely 1st gen pokemon, so none of the other changes have been that important to me.

The more variety, the better. Many Gen I Pokemon (and Gen II) I do not like, so an expansion of Pokemon would be welcome.

As for other features, as long as they are handled correctly, I do not mind them.

I have always loved every new set of games that come along. The changes have never been a problem for me. I even eventually came to terms that the second to third gen block was necessary due to the entire memory needing an overhaul since now we can't fit the amount of pokes into one byte anymore. We are not likely to ever have that problem again. They even made all the rest of the pokes available again in FR/LG and E. I welcome anything Gamefreak has to offer, as long as it doesn't harm the core concepts of pokemon. It's a simple game, I don't see anything wrong with that. If you want to make a challenge of it, you can. That is why the mechanics are what tend to be tweaked. There is only one thing that greatly disappoints me, and that is all the whiners who set the bar too high only to have it crush them when it collapses. It has become apparent to me that there is no pleasing this fandom anymore. This is the only true tragedy. Everything else is shallow.

My bad, lol. I was sure that he asked if we thought these Pokemon would get evolutions. I apologize; I was rushing.

I'm always a little disappointed when a new generation comes along and I can't build a decent team that I like using just new Pokemon. It's the same disappointment I feel from running into nothing but Zubat and Geodude (or Golbat and Graveler) in caves for the last 13 years.

I'm more disappointed if I can't use oldies and newbies equally. DP even had that problem somewhat, considering you couldn't get half of the new evolutions until post-National.

That's true, and even then quite a few of them were item+trade-evo's, which, in my book, has always seemed like a cruel thing to do to the sad little kid with no friends to trade with.

It's true...but you shouldn't SAY it....:-(

Change is good. If a new change comes along, I tend to like it. I think these changes are even important to me. I'm 30 years old, and without the interesting mechanical changes to the game there would be nothing to hold me. I know the story wouldn't.

I have wants for the game, things I would like added, and when they arn't added I get a little disappointed. Shellos did that, I saw it and thought it was a pre-evo for Lapras. But disappointment over this game is not that big a deal for me. I don't get what I want, I just wait around for the next one.

Pokemon hasn't changed much. It adds, modifies, but doesn't really change outright. It's still pokemon, still follows the same formula and battle style, it's just gotten more complex and strategic.
