I got sick of all the "worst episode/character/whatever" and all the complainings
If we're here that means we do like the show so let's for a change talk about what we actually like about it
Why do you like the show? favorites characters/episodes/movies? anything like that... I'll start

I really like Pokémon very much (especially the anime, more than the games) and I feel like I love it more and more as time goes... it seems like the show just get better and better every saga (Johto fixed the "free badges" problem, AG introduced the idea of female star and Contests, DP brought me two of my favorite characters: Dawn and Paul and most of the Gyms were great)

This whole world is great and interesting... I like all the episodes but I like the most all the Contest episodes and the good Gym battles
I think my two favotire episodes are still "Pikachu's Goodbye" and "Gotta catch ya later"
I used to say May is my favotire character but I think Dawn stole her place now... and Ash reminded me why I like him so much so I'll say both Ash and Dawn
Of course I still like May a lot (and Misty but not as much as I used to)

My favorite movie... I think it's a tie with 5 and 8 but I didn't watch them more than once/twice and that was years ago... so I might change my mind if I'll watch them again

I like all the character development that there is in the show
Ash changed a lot and during Johto proved he isn't the totally stupid beginner he was and than in AG he really became an experienced trainer and played as a "big brother" to May and Max... in the Hoenn League he faced a similar situation to that of the Kanto/Indigo League and had to battle a friend but this time Ash was the one to accept they have to battle unlike then with Richie... and now Ash has this best friends relationship with Dawn and his very intresting rivalry with Paul
It's really enjoying to see how much Ash changed and continue to develope

May also had great character development, began her journey not liking Pokémon and then as she learn more and more begin to like them until she found her love for Contests... all her interactions were great, if it was Ash, Max, Drew, Harley and any of the one shot rivals... from how she began to turn into best 4 in Kanto GF that was really amazing and Torchic/combusken/Blaziken also showcase her development as it also began as little chick that can't battle at all who now is a huge Blaziken that can tie with Ash's Sceptile

Dawn also seems to get some nice character developemnt with this story of losing her confident after her constant failures... it was interesting to see a main character finally fail to pass the performance round in the Contests and unlike others I can enjoy to friendly rivalry Dawn has with Zoey/Kenny/Nando (I especially liked Zoey in DP61, other than that I don't like her so much but she's ok)

I also like all the new ideas the writers are trying now in DP: lose the performance round, trade between main characters, Ash get his rivals' released Poké, a "serious" villian like J and how they handle Galactic
Well I think that's it... now you can tell everyone what you like about the show! and pleasedo NOT mention anything about things you hate/don't like since this thread was made to not hear about these things for once

Now these are the kinds of threads that I like.

But since I'm still watching Pokémon, there must be a LOT of things that I like about this show, so it's impossible to list them all.

But I, too, immediately fell in love with the interesting word that Tajiri created in the games, and the anime portrays it extremely well. Not to mention all the myths and legends about the legendary Pokémon.

I like Ash, and most of the characters he travels with, like Brock, Misty, May and Dawn do seem to have interesting personalities. Especially Ash, who, even though he loses as often as he wins, just keeps going.

But it's Team Rocket who really has kept me a fan so long. The premise alone is funny: a trio of wannabe villains who have been following a 10-year-old kid for years and have the strange obsession of reciting their motto. I don't believe that I have seen anything like Jessie, James and Meowth in any TV show before.

And who could forget the Pokémon themselves, and their abilities, they're very fascinating to me.

The chicks

I only I could write short replies like that...

Scratch and Grounder from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog were incredibly similiar.

I like most of the characters, the world, and the Pokemon in general.

I just wish Pokemon didn't have so much filler. I understand why some of it is needed, but out of a 600 episodes series, you could chop off at least 200 episodes worth of filler and not miss anything important.

Well, I haven't seen those shows, so I wouldn't know. But it seems that their idea wasn't as original as I thought. I'm shocked...

Really? TVTropes.org even has an entire page devoted to that kind of group. It's even named after them!

Anyway, what I like about the show is the universe it takes place in. I love Pokémon and pretty much everything about it, from the creatures themselves to the idyllic, inconsistently futuristic world the humans live in. That's about it, really. There's not much other reason I watch the show besides the fact that there's no other "pure" in-depth look into the lore of the world, since I consider the manga series alternate interpretations.

I applaud you for making this thread and your positive attitude.

Anyway, I've liked pokemon ever since it started coming on TV and I was like, 10 years old. I think I was originally attracted to it because Ash, like me, as 10 years old and I could identify with him in this strange and fantastic world. It was Team Rocket who has kept me hooked on the show for so long. In my teenage years, I was actually a lot like Jessie, James, and Meowth. I wanted to be a rebel, an awesome badass, and be cool, but I kind of failed at it. xD (Nobody takes the blond, green-eyed white girl seriously).

I loved Johto because it introduced so many interesting Team Rocket members besides Jessie and James, including Professor Sebastian (my fav, but you knew that), and the fact that Butch and Cassidy were in a three-parter. That means I can watch two episodes where they win, kind of. I also loved the movies/specials that came out during Johto, because they had cool Team Rocket members. The IMM, Domino, Bashou and Buson.

I keep holding out for that final awesome multi-episode arc that will wrap up the Team Rocket plot. Hopefully it won't be TOO soon, though...

Actually, I already stumbled upon TVTropes once, and I read that page, but they just seemed to include every villain trio they could find. I really don't see much resemblance between JJM and Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle.

Yeah Johto was the only season that introduced the most team rocket members. My favorate TR episode of the Johto series is dues and don't.

Johto was the last saga where TR were the main villains in the games, so that's probably why.

The characters, of course, both Pokemon and human, and their dynamics and interactions. I'm of the mindset that good characters can make up for a mediocre overall plot, and this is one example.

Well, this thread is a refreshing change of pace.

What do I like about the show? Well, I like how the show hooks you in and makes you want to come back next week so you can see what happens to all the new characters you just met.

I like how Satoshi is the typical adorable, yet not very bright hero with a heart of gold.

I like how Hikari was just starting out on her journey just like I was. I could also relate to thinking everything would turn out fine, when life is never that easy.

I like Takeshi's big brother attitude and his flirting with woman. If it wasn't for Gureggru, I'd probably be extremely tired of it by now.

I like how Kasumi is a redheaded tomboy like me.

I like Kenji because he's something different, and his fascination with Oak is amusing

Haven't seen much AG, but I like Haruka because she didn't like Pokemon at first. I have a feeling once I finish up Jouto I'm really going to like that character a lot.

I love the entire world of Pokemon. They're animals, but they're also shown to be above humans in certain ways. It's a fascinating balance that gets more interesting all the time.

But what I love the most is, you guessed it, the Rocket-Dan. Back when I hated Pokemon I just thought they were the bumbling buffoons who show up most episodes (yeah, I really didn't think they could possibly be in every episode because of how one note they were). But after reading Dogasu's comparison for "A Poached Ego" (I hated the show, but loved his site) I was surprised to learn that these characters actually had a heart, and weren't just the one note villains I had assumed they were. The three of them have an unbreakable bond, and it's always nice to see characters that care that much about each other.

I like Musashi because I can relate to her the most. She's around my age, kinda bossy, but deep down just wants to be loved, and keeps ending up alone. But most of all, the only person she can count on in life is a guy who is kind, sweet, funny, and will always stick by her side no matter what stupid thing she says/does. I also liked that she had red hair, but I actually like this pink color better.

I pretty much already explained the main reason why I like Kojiro, but aside from the above I love his obsession with bottle caps, and his love for his Pokemon. I also like how he came from a rich family, but wants to make it on his own.

I like Nyasu because he's the cutest pokemon ever. Almost everytime he gets to wear a new outfit I just have to change my avatar because of how adorable it is. I also like how he taught himself to walk and talk to try and impress a girl. Even though it didn't end well, it makes him pretty unique among Pokemon.

And this was the simplified version of why I like the show...

Kudos for making this kinda thread! Things I like:

Seeing how the anime location looks as its not the same seeing it from the ingame perspective and seeing the anime only locations.

Hearing how a pokemons anime cry will sound for the first time and seeing how each pokemon does an attack compared to other pokemon using the same attack and the differences compared to game mehanics when battling.

Characters and how they interact with their pokemon.Especially seeing the verious other characters interact with their pokemon in Chronicles series as its nice to see more other trainers than Ash or Dawn etc... interacting with their pokemon.

One thing I loved when it fist started, was the whole "wonder whats going to happen next" as at the time,I never played the games until about a year after the anime started. I liked when Ash had "Dexter" the pokedex too. Think it was better than some pokedexes.

The music. Some of the music I never liked, but much I did and I wanted to hear more and more of it sometimesand hear later on if the original music appeared in any later episodes like Johto, Hoenn etc.. episodes.

Getting the chance occationally to see pokemon as they truely are... not battling with trainers, but doing what they do best, getting along, interacting with eachother and having fun etc away from trainers.

Seeing how each Generation, how Ash handles that new region. He starts the same way, does similar things, but each region is different, even with the subtle simalarities.

I'm going to avoid looking at the other replies in too much detail until I've finished typing this to see how they compare. So here we go...

Hmm. Well, I've been a huge Nintendo fanboy all my life, and I was a nerdy six-year-old boy in 1998, so there's the fact that I was pretty much the embodiment of the target audience when it first launched. XD That connection of "Oh, this is my series designed for me" always appealed to me, and brought me back after a couple years when I had sworn off the franchise as a whole due to the pressure to "grow up" in late elementary school.

I suppose the depth of the anime has something to do with it. ...did I just said the anime has depth? XP You know, it's been coming out non-stop for so long that it features so many characters, creatures, locations, and plots. I'm a huge fan of convulted histories (see: X-Men). Between nearly 600 episodes, over 10 movies, and a huge amount of specials, there's just so much to be aware of. And even though having extensive knowledge on the show isn't truly necesary to watch it, it just makes it so much more fun and enjoyable. But, hey, I'm focusing mainly on Pokémon as a whole instead of just the cartoon, so let's transition a little bit...

The main human characters, despite their seeming flatness at times, are all pretty enjoyable. Every last one has their own distinctive personalty, quirks, and character arc. There's not a Lana Lang among them. And I've been following their lives for about half of mine, so it's rather difficult not to feel some sort of weird, personal connection to their progress as characters, friends, and young adults.

Not to mention the titular monsters. The Pokémon on the main cast tend to be characters in of themselves, and it's pretty neat to see life given to these creatures which could merely be random cool or cute animals to be put on backpacks and pencils without any personality what-so-ever.

And of course there's the light-heartedness of all it. This show's like the ultimate form of escapism. XD

I love the music that they use in the anime. Japanese version, of course, since it really helps pump ou up for the situation. Especially any TR songs.
I like competent animators. They also help bring a lot of life to the character.

I loooove TR(JJM). They are just perfect the way they are. I can relate to them, feeling like an underdog in certain situations and underestimated. I also love all three incarnations of their motto, ver poetic(both versions.) Their Pokemon are also simpl awesome. When was the last time that TR had a bad relationship with ANY of their Pokemon. The twerps seem to have problems all of the time, but not TR.

Brock, of course. Also, it's such an encouraging show. I like the world it takes place in.

Probably my favorite TR episode is the one with the Red Gyarados. I just loved to watch Jessie James and Meowth working with the other TR members. It was TOO funny.
