Before he decided to mellow down and become friends with his Pokemon.

Quite a few characters mention he battles roughly and apparently without remorce.

'Seems rougher then the anime's Paul and his Special counterpart too.

I've always imagined him being reckless, his Pokemon battling more roughly then normal Pokemon, and causing unnecessary injuries and such. He doesn't seem like the restrained type.

He seems to have a thing for sweepers, that's for sure.

To me, he doesn't show mercy. He's all about attack attack attack. Beat them till they're down. Don't show restrain. Make his pokemon fight harder and more brutally than they are comfortable with.

I don't know. Technically, the strategies that we all use are brutal and painful to your Pokemon as well (Anyone with Recoil damage). Basically damaging the opponent can be considered harsh, so we are all little mini Silvers walking around, except we give our Pokemon massages every now and then. I never truly understood how Silver's battle strategy could be cruel to Pokemon in a 2D setting (although, after reading SOE, Ryuu, I think I understand how it would work in real life)

I dunno, really. I think his old training style was the same as other trainers, but that changed, eventually.

I never really knew I always took his team down easily :p well except for Feraligatr...especially with Ice Fang

To be honest, I basically 1HKO'd all of his Pokemon every time we met, except the first. Not to brag or anything. Just that whatever it was, it didn't work.

His strategy is to battle with a team of completely unevolved Pokemon in Mt Moon and force people to trade with him, just to get one decent Pokemon (Alakazam)

His Team seems to focus on Pokemon that can hit hard and fast, like Alakazam, Gengar, Magneton, Golbat, Sneasel, and starter. Alakazam, Gengar, and Magneton focus more on their strong Special Stats, and Alakazam and Gengar also get the edge for being speedy as well. Sneasel, is also a Pokemon that can hit hard and fast. Golbat also has some nice speed as well, even if it a symbolism to show his training methods have changed.

In short, I would say his strategy involved hitting hard and fast, mostly sweepers, should have at least invested in one stable tank. Well, he gets one if you choose Totodile, but you know what I mean.
