I’m a big fan of the Meowth boss fantasies. I always find them to be fun and entertaining segments in the show when it’s used. It just shows that for Meowth who is suppose to love and admire Giovanni so much that he really doesn’t have any idea of who or what he is like.

So, how do you feel about the Boss Fantasy?

Vote in the poll and post your praise or scorn about how you feel about this segment in the show.

They're ok, but only because they're not overused anymore.

Back in Hoenn they were in EVERY single episode. Sometimes twice in the same episode. After Hoenn ended they stopped putting them in every single ep.

Nowadays they seem to be in every 5 eps or so.

I like them in general. They're this sort of stupid that I can't help but usually find at least amusing. But I definitely love the horrifically weird ones, as disturbing as I find them.

It's always interesting to see Giovanni where otherwise he is hardly present in the anime.
It also gives the illusion that Giovanni is a comic relief character.
Some of the boss fantasies make absolutely no sense. Seriously Meowth has some warped thoughts. The one with the speedos was priceless though.

A lot of them are not so great. I mean, when you have a rather boring Pokémon solve a boring problem like "Gioanni needs a light to read at night" or something and that's all there is to it, I'd rather they just skip it.

But! When they show how Meowth's warped mind strips Giovanni of his clothes or when he imagines a legendary solving a minor thing (Articuno as a subsitute for air conditiong) or they're completely off the wall (another legendary example, Deoxys flying Giovanni through space) or they're in crayon, or Jessie and particularly James are chiming in with their disbelieving responses or basically anything they make them unique and genuinely funny, they're awesome. So it really depends.

I loved them because it was nice seeing meowth being creative and giving team rocket a motive.

Honestly, I get totally embarrassed by them. Erm, I want to like them, I really do! But some of them are just...creepy and wrong.

Yes, I do think that some of them are incredibly cute and hilarious, but he just needs to draw the line sometimes (honey anyone?)

I love them, too, and I really miss them sometimes. Yes, they're crazy and don't make any sense, but that's half the appeal.

So reading light = boring, but air conditioning = interesting and funny?

They are funny. I like them, and I voted as such.

I wish Giovanni was more prevelent in the actual show tho.

What about when they were in every single episode? I've been rewatching the Hoenn eps and they're used in every single episode in a row.

80% of them start off with Giovanni sleeping and waking up in the morning.

I never liked them. Back when they started, for a few episodes it was acceptable because it was something different, but then they went crazy and now, even though they don't do them every episode anymore, they're still pretty terrible. They just use them because they want to be able to justify why on earth Team Rocket would be interested in the Pokémon of the day, even if it's not rare (is there a such thing as a rare non-legendary Pokémon on the show anymore?) It's also annoying because Giovanni never appears outside of them anymore, so they really destroy his character, even though he himself isn't doing anything.
So reading light = boring, but air conditioning = interesting and funny?
I think the difference is Articuno is an extremely rare and powerful Pokémon, and the idea of using it as something as mundane as an air conditioner is amusing.

I also thought they do them so new younger kids know who Giovanni is.

As said the real Giovanni hardly appears, so little kids would be confused as to who this "boss" is that TR are stealing Pokemon for.

If the fantasies didn't exist, Giovanni would be fairly unknown to many younger kids.

And I loved that.

It was fun going into each episode, wondering what crazy, effed-up thing they'll come up with for the Boss Fantasy du jour.

And when an episode came and went *without* a Boss Fantasy, I was disappointed.

What was the reading light one? What pokemon was used for that?

I think the idea of using any pokemon in any Flinstones-esque way is pretty amusing.

I'd really prefer to see Sakaki in action, see his Pokemon and his real villainity, not THIS.

Holy crap, Maxim, we actually agree on something?

That said, I liked when they were super-deformed, just because chibi Giovanni is the cutest thing on that show.
