What do you think of the region and areas?

It's apparently far from the other Pokemon regions.

I wonder if it's in Pokepan the Pokenation. Oak did say the region is larger, but you have to take a boat or airplane to get to this region. Either it's island based or it's not in the Pokemon nation.

I'm interested in the design of the region honestly. From the screenshots we've seen it defiantly looks different from the regions..

I don't get what's the places in the top-left and bottom-right screenshots though. Random cone?

I like the way things are shaping out - interested to see where exactly we are going to be.

I think that may be a construction site. Note the gated fence and barrels

I thought the region maps to the side were Kanto/Johto and Sinnoh.

I like what we've gotten from this region (Isshu, was it?) so far. What looks like a construction site, dark forest, NICE PARK and...a ye olde train station?
Hell, I don't even know but I still like it.

The new forest place looks like it has a rock climb surface, except it's green (covered in moss?) Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah, there hasn't been a map released yet. All that we know of so far is those individual screenshots.

I think it's interesting how they specifically mention how you have to take a boat or plane to this region. If it has any relevance to advancing in the games or the games themselves, I wonder if this opens up the possibility of being able to visit other previous region(s).

If that's possible, then what previous region(s)? Why? I'm getting really excited right now...:-D

It looks broken down though, even the town. Not like a construction site or factory.

The scan is blurry, but I'm pretty sure it says 廃工場 haikoujou "obsolete/abandoned factory". An old factory town that's down on its luck sounds pretty awesome to me.

at first i was thinking Shikoku...but now im not so sure.

is anybody else thinking of America as the region?

Well, the areas that we've seen certainly are a step up, but only the big circle city seems to be pushing anything. The rest of the maps seem the same old style. Not that that's bad. I like the designs we're getting. And as proved in the last coro coro, the graphics are far better than what the scans show.

What screenshots are you referring to? The ones that came out a while ago, or new ones?

Also where did Oak say this?

I think the mention of boats and airplanes will be more to do with backwards compatibility than cross-region travel, but I hope thats involved too

New screenshots.

I can't remember who says it but it was in DPP. I'm pretty sure it was Oak in Platinum that stated something about the Pokemon nation.

I thought of that. It does seem a bit western but I doubt it.

I like the new region. It has a more of an urban feel to it. But what gets to me is how nature will be implemented.

I don't know what ot think of it really. But from what we seen, IMO, it looks more interesting than a lot of things that we've seen in previous Pokemon games. I mean, we have some awesome new areas like that train station, that park-esque place, and Huin City.

And I also like the more urban feel to it, being more of a city person.

What about the Ryukyu islands? (not including the Okinawa prefecture since it was already used in RSE.)

That would explain the Western influence. I must say I am surprised about the region, I was positive it would end up being based on Touhoku. Maybe it'll end up being used in Gen VI.

If it's absolutely guaranteed the region is outside of Japan, then how about Taiwan or a region in South Korea? I doubt an city in Poke!America would be called "Hiun City". (Though that's defintely not Korean either nor is it Taiwanese...I think?) Yes, it may be the Japanese version, but there have been Americans as foreigners in the games before with English names. Lt. Surge was American in the Japanese version, Fantina's name was Melissa and spoke English, Argenta's name was Kate, Dahlia had the same name in the Japanese version, there was a guy speaking English in the Japanese version of Platinum, and etc. My point is, if it were based on a state belonging to America, then the cities would probably have English names.

Okinawa wasn't used in RSE, it was just barely south of the area that became Hoenn.

That said, Okinawa would probably give a good explanation for the American-looking areas. It's home to an American miltary base, so it's more western than the rest of Japan.

The City looks like it could represent New York, the uber-tall buildings (for a pokemon world, either in Game or Anime) and that "You need to Fly or take a Boat"

I really like what I see so far. ^^ Hiun City looks huge! Much, much bigger than any other cities from the previous games.

The scenes look really detailed and this is still on the DS. Imagine what the cities and background would of looked like it this was made for the DS successor. We'll probably find out for Gen 6 maybe 4 years from now. :D
