Out of all the possible final major battles, which do you think DP will end with?

I went with Ash vs Gary, and if not that they'll at least have the most interaction in the DP finale.

Why would Ash fight Cynthia, and then 2 minutes later fly off to Gen V land? He'd stop home first obviously, and probably battle Gary.

Ash vs. Cynthia. I'm not certain we'll see another Ash/Gary battle, and I doubt Dawn and Ash will battle.

Rather than Ash VS Dawn, a final battle (if Dawn does leave...) should be a tag battle of Ash & Dawn together just to emphasize their friendship even more and make it different from the AG final
Maybe Ash & Dawn VS Paul & Zoey? similar to AG's May VS Drew after the GF and Ash VS Gary in the last ep - combined into one battle instead of separate for each

I doubt Paul will be the last battle, I don't think he'll battle Gary. It probably will be Cynthia. With all of the Elite Four battles, I'm sure he'll want to challenge Cynthia anyway. I wonder if Ash would be able to put up a better fight than Paul did.

Agreed, I don't think they will battle each other either.

Anyways, I guess last battle of D/P will be either Hikari and Satoshi's tag battle or another battle between Satoshi and Shigeru.

And we're still not sure if we're going to get an E4 arc or a Shirona battle, Scott.

I think that's a great idea! As opposed to the farewell battle between Ash vs. Dawn, they could work together one last time in a battle against two of their rivals!

Other than the farewell battle, the next major battle for Ash might be Ash vs. Palmer or Ash vs. Cynthia, depending on what Ash does after the league. Unless he doesn't battle the Battle Tower or E4 at all that is. I really can't say with certainty what Ash will do in the future but it's likely Ash will have one last battle against or with Dawn as his last battle in Sinnoh.

I don't think any of these scenarios will be the "final major battle of DP."

Ash VS Paul at the league- Yes, they will inevitably fight in the Sinnoh League but it's the final major battle we're talking about. In the times before it, Ash fights against another opponent after defeating his major rival. Assuming Ash wins against Paul here (there is a chance that he will), he will still probably have to fight against somebody else. Possibly Nando?
Ash VS Cynthia- Unless Cynthia is going to appear in Generation V (it is somewhat likely since she did travel to Johto in Gen IV), I can't see Ash fight her. I'm not really in the mood for Ash to be losing a third time against an Elite 4/champion in a short span of episodes (chances are he'll lose to Berhta in DP171). Even though Ash losing battles practically sets a course to start his next journey, can we really grasp a central figure in Gen IV starting off the events to Gen V?
Ash VS Gary at Pallet- I honestly don't see any point in rehashing another Gary battle. In terms of DP, Gary is almost nonexistant. The only reason why Gary fought Ash at the end of Advanced Generation was because the former had already been to Sinnoh. Practically to give Ash a little taste of what to expect in Sinnoh. Gary has stayed in Sinnoh of the most part; the last battle in DP should serve a purpose in introducing the next generation.
Ash VS Dawn in a "farewell" battle- Again, we don't need a rehash of what happened in Advanced Generation. I can't see Ash fighting Dawn in the finale. Even if Dawn were to leave, chances are that they will team up in a tag battle in the end rather than fight each other. If that is the case, the writers may wrap up the Lagamorph ship and have Pikachu and Buneary tag alongside their trainers. Besides, it's not like Dawn has any real pokemon to fight with against Ash.

I think it will be Ash V.S Paul.
Every thing has been leading up to it in the league.
I think they'll have another one at the end of the series too with Ash finding out that Paul has a fifth generation Pokemon.
Than Paul tells Ash that there's a new region he's heading to, gives the name and says that hey'll beat Ash in that region.
It'd be repeative just a bit if it was Gary who did it again.
This way, Ash/Paul rivalry would live on too and hopefully they'll figure how to do things differently than they did in the Johoto series.
Than I'd say Ash/Dawn, but yah I'd like a tag team battle better too, for Dawn's send off.

I think it's going to be Ash vs. Cynthia. It's going to be epic.

But then again, the Ash vs. Paul battle is a possibility.

I wonder if Ash will do better against the Elite Four if he gets to battle them again after the league. Pikachu seemed to be able to do something to Agatha's Gengar, unlike Flint's Infernape.

If Ash v Paul in the League is the final battle, wouldn't that mean that Ash loses that battle ? I mean, if he wins, he would face the next opponent or if he wins in the final, then he would face the Elite 4, so it can't be Paul in my opinion.

Cynthia I could see happening, but I don't think it'll be the "last battle" of DP.

Another Gary battle = boring

I would love for this to happen... still I don't see Zoey and Paul as a tag team. DP has really put an emphasis on Ash and Dawn supporting and influencing each other, so a tag battle would be the perfect conclusion. This gets my vote (cause once again in Scott's polls thread, there's no real option that I feels would represent my vote...)

Now, since "Dawn isn't May" I doubt she'll get a fair well battle. So, i'm thinking vs Cynthia opposed to vs Paul. I mean, if Ash actually knocks out at least 2 of Cynthia's Pokemon, then hey! Paul won't look down at Ash anymore, and Ash would be happy and stuff.

If it is a major battle, than probably cynthia or paul. And if Dawn is leaving than the last or near last battle may be with her.

But meh.

Now that I think about it, Paul has Honchkrow and Zoey has Misdreavus... if they'll go with my idea - expect Pika & Pip VS Honchkrow & Mismagius
Of course they could also give Paul and/or Zoey a brand new Pokémon similar to Gary's Electivire or Harrison's Blaziken

I think it will be Ash Vs. Paul. They have had a big build up so far in the season, so no it comes down to one last epic battle. I think Ash has a good chance of winning, but chances are it will just be there to settle the score between the two of them. One thing is for sure though; it will be epic.

Personally I want it to be Ash Vs. Cynthia. But I think it's going to be either Ash. Vs. Paul, or Ash Vs. *insert trainer's name here that ain't on the poll* -_-;

A Paul or Gary battle would be pretty cool but I doubt a Gary battle, maybe Ritchie will return O_0
