Will he take the Sasuke root from Naruto where whenever Ash will beat him he just won't admit how strong Ash has become and will turn to the dark side for stronger Pokemon than challange Ash agian? Or could you see him being the replacment for Brock on Ash team and Ash/Pauls friendship would be like Sasuke/Narutos friendship in the begining of series 1. What do you think? If your not a Naruto fan and don't know who any of these characters are, I mean Paul/Ash could have a friendship where its fighting but Paul has come to slight terms of Ash and help Ash/new girl. Any who what do you guy's see? I'd hope Paul doesn't just drop off the face of the earth right after Ash victory. Gary didn't, he came back for the Johto saga and they faced off in the finales. I'd hope they'd do things a lot different with Ash/Pauls rivalry, its not supposed to be the same.

Well, I would like it better if he joined the group and replaced Brock. If Paul lost to Ash, I'd think he would start to respect him and say something like the only reason he's traveling with him is to make sure he didn't lose to a weakling and see how strong he gets (or something like that). But, he'll probably start to think of Ash as a friend, but won't admit it. And, if Paul joined the group, it would make it more interesting, plus I would laugh everytime they get into one of their fights. And they would probably help the new girl, but Paul would go hard on her and act mean and cold since she hasn't earned his respect.

Sorry about my little rant, didn't mean for it to be this long.

Ash will beat him in the Pokemon League, and Paul will start traveling with him for the filler season.

If Paul joined the group, those would be the only episodes of Pokemon I would probably never watch.

I hope him and Ash have an epic final battle, and then have him go his seperate ways.

Paul's novelty, to me, is that he and Ash are polar opposites in their philosophies, and ideal rivals. Putting them together in a friendly group would really just kill that novelty.

Well maybe that past poster that was posted with Ash/Dawn/Paul was forshadowing of what could happen in the future saga after Ash won. Just becuase he'd join Ash group doesn't mean he has to be friendly, they could have a friend/hate thing. I mean why post that poster for nothing eh? Paul being just his rival, they never did that with Gary that's for sure. Than they go and pull the old Ash/Brock/Dawn poster next to it, maybe one was a future poster. I don't know honestly, it sure would be suprising and fun if they did that. But I'm not going to put my money on this that's for sure.

It all depends on the writers. But, it's less likely to happen. (Stupid writers) They've kept Brock this whole time, so why would they kick him off now? Not that I don't like Brock or anything, I would like it better to see someone new replace Brock instead of the old Ash/Brock/New girl thing.

But I'd bet more people would watch the show more if they do what I said in my previous post. I know I would.

It would be cool if Paul were to lose to Ash in the Pokemon League. Then Paul gets all mad and pulls a Uchiha Madara, he starts to collect all of the legendaries to get more power, and then he challenges Ash for the Ultimate battle. Ash beats him, end of pokemon (He defeated the strongest trainer in the world). It won't happen but it would be cool if it did.

I think it would be an interesting turn in events if Paul decides to travel with Ash in his journey. I do have a strong feeling that Ash will beat Paul at the end, and Paul will have some respect with Ash, heck he was already shocked about Pikachu's power, and he rarely criticized Pikachu since their first battle.

But I would agree it would be a love/hate relationship, they would respect each other and they obviously have different training styles. They would argue, and then yeah I respect your way and vice versa.

I bet most likely Paul would still train on his own, and he probably do some soul searching, and find a better way to be stronger, I think he won't be thrown away just like the other rivals Ash faced since he's like another main rival to Ash.

He had better not pull the: I have seen the error of my ways and have become a good guy routine because that is way to predictable and happens far to often!

Paul and Ash will probably have some epic battle and Paul will end up learning the error of his power-hungry ways. Both of them will probably end up having some sort of mutual respect for one another.

Cliche yes, but that's what shows like this one have always been about.

As for joining Ash's group of friends? Not likely at all.

I agree, if Paul joined Ash, and if Paul kept his badass atitude, imagine all the more arguement we'll see.

I can see at the end of the season, after the final big battle between the two. Ash says goodbye to Paul in a good natured way. Paul makes a snappy comment and turns to leave in the sunset. At the last second Paul half turns and shoots off a onliner that shows he at least respects Ash as a trainer and then continues on his way. Empowered by this Ash is ready to tackle his next adventure!

*ahem* Ya, that's what I think.

I'm really hoping that Paul has some kind of emotional breakdown and realizes what he's been doing. Either that or going insane with power sounds very interesting.

But Cosmicwind, that's too anti-climatic. I'm going for something more exciting, like say, learning Paul's story.

I really am hoping they don't do the Gary root, I mean D/P has been shocking it would really make me cringe if they did the same thing with Paul. An emtional break down fine, but just don't go the Gary root, please!!!
And Gary came back another saga, I figure they might do the same with Paul. He's a popular rival on the show, you'd think the writers would be smart to bring him back some how.

I'm sure as time passes Paul will eventualy be a nicer...er, nice guy :p

Well I would hope we'd learn his story long before that :3

in my view i hope he gets placed under a curse by a ghost type or meet and untimely end like with those scientists on the first move.Cause when it comes to bad trainers, this guy is just as bad as damion(Charizard's first trainer on season 1)

I've used this before, but who cares.

I honestly think Paul will be like Kaiba from Yugioh. He'll still be a jerk, but he won't be as bad and he'll have a grudging respect towards Ash.

I predict that by the end of the Sinnoh Saga Paul will have had a change of heart and start treating his Pokemon better. It happened to Gary; no reason why it won't happen to Paul.

Maybe something happens to one of his Pokemon (possibly Torterra, as it was his starter and he probably cares for it more than his other pokemon, even though he doesn't show it) and that causes Paul to realize that his way is the wrong one.

I also believe Reiji and Chimchar (who will most likely be fully evolved when this happens) will have a major part in Paul's eventual change of heart.
