what do you want in a pokemon

The Pokémon must look good. If I don't like its design, I won't use it. It must have good stats or a good movepool, too. It must be usable in battle.

I want a combination of Attack, Special Attack, a good movepool, and aesthetics. I try to get good-looking Pokemon with nice attacking stats. And they have to have nice movepools, because I only use attackers.

Aesthetics are important, but they have to be usuable at least in game. So, for example, Charizard and Meganium may be balls competitvely, I love their designs to death and they service perfectly fine in the normal game so I use them.

Aesthetics also play a role, too. For example, I'd probably never use Zekrom, because it looks FUGLY to me, but I'd probably use Reshiram, because it looks cool.

This also varies between generations. For example, I would absolutely NEVER use Golbat in Generation 1(obviously), but I might use it in Generation 2, because it looks slightly better in those games.

Aesthetics are about equal to utility for me, though I don't go crazy over statistics like most people do. Variety is nice, but I try not to worry about that so much. As long as my team members can cover each other's weaknesses and consists of Pokémon that I'm fond of in some way (which covers most Pokémon, really), I'm pretty willing to give any 'mon a shot.

I really don`t know, I like so many different Pokemon. I mostly like powerful Pokemon because I use them the most, but defensive ones are cool too, not to mention derpy ones. Pokemon designs are so diverse that mostly all of them speak to me in one way or another.

I prefer appearance as well. If it's awesome game-mechanics-wise but looks like crap (e.g. Aerodactyl), then I'm not prone to use it much.

Usually I tend to use Pokes I like,
or then I go with Pokes I want to try.
...That's how I ended up liking for example: Claydol.

But yeah...Usually I tend to pick pokes that are fast and can hit hard.
...I REALLY should try the defencive ones and tanks too...

But I also go for pokemon with speed and strength.
