What do you want in Gen 10 or beyond?

I'm curious to ask what stuff, gimmicks, mechanics buffs, etc do people want to see in Gen 10. Please try to be more specific than "a post game" or "passable performance".

One of these threads again, huh?

Uhhh let's see

  • Ride system has been expanded so whichever Pokemon is following you can use its field move. Field moves can also be accessed from the Summary screen. Rental Pokemon can be provided if needed.
  • World Level system implemented where you can control the level of wild Pokemon and random trainers in the overworld. Key storyline battles such as gym leaders, rivals, and evil team members are not affected by World Level.
  • Day Care/Picnic is now replaced with a special PC Box called the Breeding Box. You can deposit 2 parents into the Breeding Box and they will begin breeding Eggs to fill up the rest of the box. You can set how many Eggs can be stored in the Breeding Box, for up to 20. Eggs must be withdrawn to your Party or another box before more can be produced.
  • Difficulty settings available from the start
  • Pokedex now includes more detailed information on Pokemon such as moves, abilities, evolution methods, type matchups, etc.
  • Can instantly go to your PC after catching Pokemon to move/send it to whatever box you want.

For me, I want to play as an even older protagonist, you know, old enough to have facial hair available as a customization option for the male character. Post-game content not to be repetitive regarding getting older legendaries, that means eliminating the luck-based aspect of doing so that was in Sw/Sh, it's more fun if we have to trigger it ourselves rather than letting the game do it.

No in-battle mechanics, just let the game stand on its own without any of that flashy stuff, it worked before the introduction of Mega Evolutions, and it's possible to work after.

I agree here.

Feel like Champions should be the battle mechanics game and leave the original stuff to the core series

What i want for gen 10 is not have Fighting/Dark/Ghost type secondary typings on the starters. If all of them have those typings, they are getting stale and boring and it brings the uniqueness away from them.
New Eeveelution (Preferably 2, a Ground type and a Steel or Poison type, so Sylveon/Jolteon also get Eeveelutions they are weak against).
I also agree with the no battle mechanic. Keep that for Champions/Lets Go/Legends games.
More interconnectivty between games in terms of characters being related.
New types of Pokeballs.

This times a hundred. They've done almost every combination of these with the starter types, some 2 or 3 times. There's no combination of them they could try where at least one of them wouldn't feel done to death. It's definitely time to experiment with other dual typings outside of this triangle.

An option to have preset teams to switch between. Do that, and I'll never complain about anything ever again.
Do you mean, like for competitive?

Because otherwise I think preset teams kinda go against the point of the game. That's just my opinion though

Nah. Think like Genshin where you can swap between teams in a menu. Although I see your point. I guess now that we have portable boxes changing Pokémon out is not too much of a hassle but I'd just like to have multiple parties I can set and make main

I think what was said about preset teams is that we create a preset team ourselves using the Pokemon we caught/transfered/traded over in-game. I would agree that would be a very useful feature to have in the post-game.

What's the use case for multiple teams in Pokemon? Genshin's meta is very different, Genshin needs multiple teams because its end game modes require 2 teams and because you need entire teams to optimize different reactions (for those not familiar with Genshin, it's almost like needing to construct a full monotype team to fully utilize a certain type, and needing multiple monotype teams depending on the type you're facing), Pokemon's meta is designed around one team of diverse types. I can't imagine many scenarios, certainly not any common ones, where you would need to swap between multiple teams frequently.

EDIT: Oh right, forgot Masters EX exists and... it's pretty much just that (unsurprisingly because they're both gachas). And again, Masters meta is different from main series meta so... that's something I could see for Masters but not the main series.

the use case here would be to just have a primary battle team for bosses and then a second team just for grinding.

Still doesn't explain the utility. Why do you need a separate team for grinding? Grinding what? I have never felt the need to swap out all 6 of my Pokemon for any sort of grinding.

it is a maximization thing. If you're filling out the pokedex, then chances are you would have a faster time evolving 4 mons at once over say 3 or less. You only need one strong level 100 mon to grind the trainer battles.

Another example is breeding, you don't need to battle to hatch eggs, at most you need a mon with flame body or an equivalent (and because the game won't let you carry six eggs at once)

it might not be a utility but it is a convenience, a quality of life feature. Even then it might not be necessary if passive incubation is a more recurrent feature (since candies already exist for leveling mons).

You get so many candies now that you don't need to battle to evolve, just feed them the candies. And you don't need a separate party for that, you need the ability to feed them candies in the PC.

Back to Hisui Shiny Hunting, thinking to myself, "Wow, these Balls are ugly. And the one they're all put into after transferring is even worse." and then a thought I've had hundreds of times resurfaces again: Why isn't there a way to change the Poke Ball a Pokemon is in Post-Capture?

Would love a means of doing that At Some Point.

They really need some kind of NPC that does this as a service.

Speaking of Hisui though, one small thing I'd like is to see Feather Balls return. Even if they don't bring back throwing Poke Balls in the overworld, Feather Balls would still be a useful ball type, they could simply change it to be used on Flying types or Pokemon that have Levitate.

Yeah, the ability to change Poke Ball type post capture would be a great feature. I don't know why Game Freak isn't doing it yet. They could just make the Poke Ball that the Pokemon that was caught in break or something that makes it useless once the change does happen, if what you worry about is players infinitely using Master Balls.
