What DON'T you want to see in SM?

This was asked back during XY and ORAS and we've had a ton of threads since Friday about what would you like to see in Sun and Moon but no main thread for what you wouldn't like to see in the new gen. So, I ask you all this...

What don't you want to see SM do or have? What would be the one (or many) thing(s) that would be a deal breaker that would turn you off from the new games or the series as a whole?

This can also be about the whole cross compatibility/Pokemon Bank thing too if you want to rant some more about being able to trade first gen pokemon.

Personally, what would turn me off from the games is:
  • Another temporary evolution gimmick.
    • Especially if that temp evolution is ReBurst related.
      • Seriously...please no human/pokemon fusions.
  • Paid DLC:
    • Thankfully and hopefully won't happen. But who knows this is a new gen they've probably changed their minds like always.
And some bonus minor annoyances that won't turn me off from the games, but I wouldn't be too happy about:
  • Reference overload II: Electric Boogaloo:
    • Like what they did with Gen I and Kalos. References are fun and cute...but when they're direct and pretty much everywhere you turn they can get annoying after a while. I mean for example, I like Gen II and all, it's probably my favorite gen. But just have some gym leaders or E4 members pop up on vacation or have some random trainers give out the starters yellow style. Don't actually set a Suicune loose, plop a Lugia in an archipelago that just so happens to have whirlpools, or have the professor give out the starters.
  • Returning NPCs in important roles:
    • Looker popping up out of nowhere is cute. Red returning as Champ? Less cute.
  • No dark type gym:
    • Leo won an Oscar before there was a Dark gym. This is getting ridiculous.

Too many legendaries. The trio, mascot pair, and ONE we have to wait for a tedious event is enough. Any more than that and it gets annoying.

Mr. Bonding. Plz no.

Caves that require flash. I hate flash as a move and I hate having to have to traverse a cave that requires me use flash. Caves are hard enough to traverse without knowing I have to use an HM slave as one of my pokemon.

A city as pointlessly large as Lumiose. Travelling around that city was a pain without a map.

Zygardge's forms as anything other than an event. I really can't see most of the forms as anything you'd see in a cutscene forming together to make one of the larger forms... to be honest I kind of wish the snake version of Zygard was the only version of it.

More pokemon with multiple Mega Evolutions.

Another Pikachu clone that does not evolve or have any existing value besides "Look! It looks like Pikachu!" At least Unova had an excuse for having a Pikachu-like pokemon: You couldn't catch a pikachu there naturally! Why would you give players a pikachu expy when they can easily catch a pikachu somewhere?

A pokemon that looks like it should evolve from/into a previous pokemon, but has absolutely no evolutionary relation to them.

And, of course: A fire-fighting starter.

I agree on nostalgic reference overload. I get that it's the anniversary and everything, but there is a tasteful way to acknowledge the past, and then there is a cheap and heavy-handed way, and I think that we have had too much of the latter recently.

Please no Mega Evolution storyline. I like the mechanic well enough, but I have lost interest in the story of it. I want them to move onto a new, unrelated plot, and let Mega Evolution just be a game mechanic. I mean, there couldn't be that much more left to tell about Mega Evolution, could there? (Honestly, I could kind of see this one going either way.)

I would rather not see any more Eeveelutions if at all possible, unless it is a completely "out there" non-sequitur like being based on entry hazards or something. Like @The Outrage said about Zygarde, I think the fandom meltdown would be glorious.

Echoing @PinkIceFox, I would hate to see another Fire/Fighting-type starter.

And no more Dragon-type Legendaries, please.

I don't want to see 8 Gyms, an Elite 4.

Meh, who am I kidding? Pokemon games will never change.

There have been soooo many type combinations that haven't been used by a single Pokemon yet, so one thing I don't want to see is the further recycling of already frequently used type combinations.. so please no more normal / flying, bug / flying, grass / poison, bug / poison, rock / water or water / ground types. Please and thank you! Hopefully we'll get a fire / fairy. That would be a real treat.

Also I totally agree with PinkIceFox mentioning that she doesn't want to see too many legendaries, and adding to that I really didn't like whole concept of gifted legendaries at all. I'd like to see more legendary Pokemon integrated into the story in some way or another, and I'd like them to have more of a mystical vibe that could give you goosebumps when you encounter them.

Agreed, legendary Pokémon are losing their legendary status a bit cause there's just so many of them.
Mr. Bonding. Plz no.

AGREED
A city as pointlessly large as Lumiose. Travelling around that city was a pain without a map.

And also agreed, not only was Lumiose way too large, it was full of pointless buildings like all those damn cafes. Also wasn't a fan of Mauville City in ORAS, just like Lumiose it's so symmetric it's a pain to navigate and simply boring imo.
Please no Mega Evolution storyline. I like the mechanic well enough, but I have lost interest in the story of it. I want them to move onto a new, unrelated plot, and let Mega Evolution just be a game mechanic.

And also this. Yes I get it, Mega-evolution is awesome and mysterious blablabla time to move on.

Other things I can think of for now:
  • Roller Skates. At least let us take them off.
  • Overly friendly 'rivals' that insist on being my friends and giving me a nickname even though I just met them and want nothing to do with them.
  • New Pokémon that evolve by trading. I know that's never gonna happen, but c'mon not all of us have Pokémon friends and I want to evolve my Pokémon without having to find someone online to trade with me :/

-I don't want a bunch of legendaries either.
-No more fire/fighting.
-Permanent skates.
-Effing Lumiose size. So flipping confusing.
-Mr. Bonding please go away.
-Mega evolution for like every pokemon -_-
-Power of one plot. I don't want to be the chosen one anymore. That's been the plot since basically Gen III. Let us have a non legendary centric plot like Gen I and II.
-Mega evolution plot.
-Lack of Dark gym.
-Dragon gym, E4, or Champion.
-Rivals who aren't really rivals. I don't even care about personality, it's just the battling. When I have a rival I like to enjoy destroying them like Blue and Silver. Friendly =/= bad. It's bad when they don't battle you often enough and are boring as heck to battle.
-A previous gen pokemon playing a big part in the storyline. If this is done well I don't mind, but I actually prefer everything to be new.

Fire/Fighting starter. As good a type combination as it is, Fire goes well with other types too.

Lots of new legendaries. I like how minimal X/Y was in this aspect.

  • Zygarde or Kalos being in. (I wouldn't really mind if just Zygarde is in, don't get me wrong, but I wonder how the fandom would react to that. xD)
  • ANOTHER Fire/Fighting starter.
  • Lack of Dark-type gym.

I wanna say Zygarde but then the Z advocates would never stop speculating about Zygarde eventually getting a game, so S/M should just give Zygarde small post-game focus so those same fans can finally stop speculating about it.

i don't want to see a Team Plasma-like story, i want to see a more Team Rocket-like story. that is to say, i don't want a story centric game. for as nice as it was to have an effort made for the story with Team Plasma, it just became a sort of 'here's the new town. here's where you meet Plasma. here's the gym leader. oh look it's Bianca and Cheren,' every town and some of the instances just felt incredibly bland (Skyla, lots of times with Bianca, Cheren when you meet him in Nacrene City, and so on).

i did like Lumiose City though. i wanna see more of them, especially if Game Freak can sort out how to make the camera a little less wonky.

Am I the only person on the planet who has no trouble with Lumiose's size or camera? :p

Lots of new legendaries. I like how minimal X/Y was in this aspect.

I am somewhat torn on this one. I liked having tons of Legendaries in Gens IV and V. However... I do feel as though they should probably not go that high again (it made sense in both of those regions, where Sinnoh was myth-heavy and Unova was a melting pot, so of course it would have a variety of diverse myths and stories), but then on the other hand, I don't *just* want the mascot trio. Luckily, we later got Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion to balance things out, and in this instance, we will seemingly have Magearna in a sort of Victini-like role, perhaps. But I do rather like having a couple of "lesser" Legendaries like the Winged Mirages or Johto's Beasts.

Oh and, unrelated, but this talk of Gen V put my mind back on it - No more mysterious ciphers that you never give the full solution to, Game Freak! Gaah, I still want to know what that last chamber in the Abyssal Ruins was supposed to say.
