What facts can make Pokémon go into the history books?

Well, it's Nintendo's 2nd most popular franchise.

Not only that, it's the 2nd best selling franchise of all time. Only Mario tops it, and since it has been around for 15 more years than Pokemon has, one could say that Pokemon is even more successful.

If you consider average sales per year rather than total sales, Pokémon is the most successful franchise.

Pokémon: 186 million/13 years=14.3 million per year
Mario: 210 million/28 years=7.5 million per year

Electric soldier Porygon!

That already happened. It got a spot in the Book OF World Records 2008 in the What Are The Odds? section. I own the book. It talked about the seizure incident but didn't use names and there was a picture of Pikachu from the episode.

Pokémon could belong in any history book focused on popular culture or the modern developed world, as an absurdly popular craze, and depending on the level of detail, the cause of hundreds of seizures.

In a history of television and games maybe.
But I doubt it would go into the same book as the World Wars and the likes.
Yes its in the World Records, but that's not a history book in my eyes.

Electric Soldier Porygon seems more likely. I don't think Pokemon is THAT huge...just give it another 5 years before it makes a really huge world-wide impact somewhere...

it should be in history books, its an important part of history! you'll see, one day, there will be a new way to hunt deers... through poke'balls!!
haha, jk...kind of :\

but i think it should go in the history books because of its affect on the world. like, Coca-Cola is in the history books, and thats not a war or something drastic.

^These two unfortunatly...

And the whole ''pokémon is satanic'' thing.

I'm pretty sure half of every children's toys ever made has been accused of being satanic/blasphemic at one point...
Especially those that feature evolution, ignoring the fact that if Darwin saw how the Pokèmon evolve he'd probably burst into tears.

That and Harry Potter.
Because its magic.
Magic is eeeevil, and apparently the kids of religious extremists can't tell the difference between fiction and real life:p

This. Sadly. I still remember my parents and everyone in their little "Jeezis parents club" clucking about how all our children are going to Hell on Pikachu's back. Ugh... SO glad I'm a rational person (read: atheist).

It could go in a history book for having it's own god, lol. Also on the whole pokemon is "satanic", I'm surprised no parents have commented on pokemon trying to make their kids convert to a new religion, by making Arceus.
