Everyone has cried in a game before, be it a famous example like Mother 3 and Shadow of the Colossus, one that is niche like Fire Emblem Genology of the Holy War or Gyakuten Kenji 2 (Ace Attorney Investigations 2 for those unaware) or one that's designed that way like Final Fantasy X and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers.
but what games made YOU cry? That is the question.

Final Fantasy X is always one I bring up because it was so sad it was spectacular! xP

As for a few other games Tales of Graces F, Ni No Kuni, Fire Emblem Fates Birthright, Odin Sphere, parts of Rune Factory 4, Eternal Sonata, and Stella Glow even had some pretty emotional parts.

I never got to play Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 so I started watching a friend play it and it was pretty sad. Im stoked its getting redone for PS4.

To get Pokemon Mystery Dungeon out of the way, Red Rescue Team was definitely the first game that made me cry. EoT/EoS had the same effect, including that Igglybuff episode.

Games that made me sob: MOTHER 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Okami, Ni No Kuni, Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, FFXV

Games that made me shed a tear or a few: Final Fantasy VII (not what makes everyone else cry), The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Link's grandma), FE Path of Radiance, Earthbound credits

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon always gets my tears going at least once per game. Heck, Explorers of Sky pulled it off thrice (usual "goodbye" scene, that bit before Dark Crater, then near the end of Special Episode 5).

I have never cried over a game (well minus me being extremely frustrated as a kid, but that's besides the point), but there were a few times in the Ace Attorney series that made me pretty sad and emotional.

Besides some already mentioned, the endings to Zelda OoT, MM, TWW and TP made me sob a bit as a kid xD

Sorta silly, but so did Super Mario Galaxy and Sunshine's endings. ESPECIALLY the former, during the scene the Lumas throw themselves into the black hole ;-;

The World Ends With You has too many emotional moments to count, too.

(I cry for everything, easily)

The Megaman Zero series. Mostly things involving X and the epilogue...
I grew with Megaman X. When they made these games, it was literally meant to be the last we'd see of X and Zero. It felt as if they died for real.
(I'm upset they didn't actually commit to it.)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon doesn't need mentioning, though the ending of The Future of Darkness is still what has gotten to me the most.

I vaguely remember crying during the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened!

Fire Emblem Awakening had me in big, ugly tears by the end. Some were sad tears, others happy tears.

FE Fates' Birthright and Conquest. Main games and their endings specifically. I feel like a jerk no matter which path I choose, even on Revelation. but also...
When playing the HoF DLC, on the last map, I got all the kids through alive ... except for Nina. And I idled with resetting and trying to get them all through alive like I always do when playing FE, but for whatever reason I just carried on. Then I saw the ending you get if any of the kids die. I read the text. I think of Niles. I ACTUALLY start crying. I'm thinking, "That poor boy has been through enough," and I'm imagining him seeing all the other kids returning to their parents, EXCEPT HIS and I redo the entire map again so fast (nearly losing Nina a second time), feeling like a complete jerk for continuing after her death in the first place. x'D I get too emotionally involved in games...

Telltale's The Walking Dead, the first series' ending. Twice. First time I just watched a let's play and was in tears. Then, playing it for myself, even knowing what was coming, I STILL cried, STILL needed to get myself together afterwards bc I was a mess.

The Last of Us.
This is gonna sound silly to some, but when Ellie kissed Riley I was so emotional I had to stop playing, leave the room, make some tea, and blubber for a bit. Like, it was happy tears! But it was just so ... unexpected. I mean it seemed like they had 'something' between them as well as friendship, but I thought it'd just be queer-baiting. To then see ND actually commit and show two girls, one of whom was already a much beloved character, have feelings for each other and kiss, in a non-sexualised manner. It just hit me like a ton of bricks and it STILL makes me emotional just thinking of it.
In a good way.

Then endings to Mega Man X and Zero 4. The first for the epilogue and the music that accompanied it, the latter for the feeling that the adventures of X and Zero had really come to an end. MM X 2 and the ZX series ruined both of these endings, of course, since they made them obsolete. Still, at the time, they left a mark and made me feel worse for finishing the game instead of ending on a happy note.

So far, three games have managed to make me cry: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (Namely the end of special episode 5), Mother 3, and Dust: An Elysian Tail.

what, no mention of undertale? you monsters
Proabably because I, and maybe some other people on here haven't played it yet (and I really should get around to doing that when/if I get a computer that can actually run the thing). Or it just didn't make others cry. Or they've tried to block it from their conciousness or something, I dunno. Either way, rawr, boo and various other monster-y noises.

...In any case, I think Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games've been mentioned enough times on here already, so I won't talk about them too much, other then say that the endings (and maybe some other moments during the story depending on the game) usually make me tear up regardless of how many times I've played them.

However, there is a notable exception, namely Super Mystery Dungeon, which, despite going for that same tear-jerk reaction as the rest of 'em towards the end (albeit with a little twist), just didn't get a single drop out of me. Now it could just be because it's my least favourite Mystery Dungeon game I've played (and I've played all the PMDs and also Etrian Mystery Dungeon), but when series that usually has tear-jerking endings kinda doesn't then you know someone f***ed up. Or I'm just being a grumpy old fart or something, I dunno.

Oh, and I was playing Etrian Odyssey Untold 2's Story Mode again because I have no clue why at this point and there's a certian point fairly late in the story that I shan't spoil for you that actually managed to get a few drops out of me. Oh, and those conversations with your party members at the inn can occasionally make me spring a few leaks, that too.

*Says he isn't going to talk about PMD much, then makes most of his post about it*

Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team. The credits were so sad and heart-warming.
Trauma Team. (I only watched Let's Plays) Some of those forensic investigations were really sad.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team made me cry but holy hell, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers made me cry like a baby. Even to this day, I even watch, let alone play the separation scene again in D/E/S without crying so hard. Seriously, that's how strong the game is. I personally thought Episode 5 made me smile and restore my faith in humanity just a little bit.

Mother 3 was quite emotional, especially the death Hinawa, the sunflower cut scene and the final boss.

Then of course there's Mega Man X when Zero couldn't repair himself.

Ori and the Blind Forest made me cry for the antagonist and the fate of the antagonist once the context of Kuro actually made sense. And boy, the sequel of the game is really going to start off in a very awkward moment based on the trailer.

Ok, let's get the big obvious stuff out of the way. Explorers of Sky slayed me, especially the ending to Igglybuff's story.

Outside of that however, the Kingdom Hearts series is able to do it to me a lot too. Scenes like Axel and Xion's deaths, and Aqua killing herself in darkness for all she knew to save Terra all got to me. Naturally I'm hoping that KHIII will keep up the trend and emotionally destroy me like the rest.

Another that got to me was Rogue Galaxy, especially once you get proper context for some things near the end. Simon probably hit me hardest, but Kisala and Deego were up there too.

And of course, how could I not mention Shadow and "MARIAAAAAAAAA!"? I joke to hide the pain.

There's a particular moment, or a story quest rather, in Yo-Kai Watch 2 that was pretty sad.

For context, the Yo-Kai named Jibanyan is a ghost cat who died when he was hit by a truck. For awhile he was led to believe that his former owner, Amy, was disgusted with him and called him "lame" for letting that happen to him. So Jibanyan, out of anger yet also love for his owner, stuck around the intersection hoping to grow strong enough to punch the trucks away so he could return to Amy stronger than ever.

Well in YKW2 there is a story quest where Jibanyan leaves the protagonist following an argument, and is then sent back in time by the witches Kin and Gin, who are hellbent on separating humans and Yo-Kai. Jibanyan wakes and finds himself in Amy's house living his former life as a cat named Rudy. So for the remainder of that segment, you play as Rudy and witness how Amy's and Rudy's lives were like. You witness how Amy and her mother often fought with each other, and Rudy was the only one around to comfort her. He was like her only friend. They were literally inseparable. Then it leads up to the moment where Rudy dies. As it turns out, Amy was about to be run down by a speeding truck, but Rudy ran in just in time to push her away and sacrifices himself. And it's revealed that Amy was actually never angry with Rudy/Jibanyan, but had tearfully called his death "lame" out of grief and frustration. Jibanyan, now at peace, appears before to her in spirit to say good-bye before returning to the present.

And for a game series that's otherwise so happy and optimistic, this just really hits in the feels. Especially since I'm a pet owner.

The Last Guardian hits me in the feels and there's one particular moment that makes me very upset to this day but not the sad way but more the disturbed/"What were the people behind this game thinking?" kind of way.
Why did they have to rip off Trico's tail and more importantly why did they show that happen? Those things are already mauling him. This is the equivalent of showing somebody a beloved puppy or a kitten get torn apart by a pack of vicious dogs.
