Ive nearly finished the galactic battles series (where its up to anyway) online and was wondering which generation I should watch.
Kanto, Johto or Hoenn ?

Reasons would be helpful
Thanks :ksmile:

Just watch them all in order. If you have the free time you could watch all of them.

Yeah all in all the series actually do have a good premise outside one another (ie you could watch Hoenn without worrying too much about the original series and so on) but it is better to watch them all in order or else later on you could go where the hell did Ash get a Bulbasaur/Charizard/Totodile or something else when he brings them back for one of their visits.

If you're only watching one, I would suggest Kanto (and the Orange Islands), as it's got the lowest density of bad episodes, plus it's where it all began, needs no knowledge of other episodes to understand everything, and can be finished faster than the other generations.

go in order, but i didn't care for Honnen, so i skipped that. (i HATE Max!)
I kind of hate Max too but I like the AG episodes as a whole. There's a lot going on in them that people ignore because "uhhh may/max suck" "hoenn sux" "third gen is boring/dumb" etc >_< plus, it's one of the last chances to hear the old voice actors (I'm an old VA fan) :p

If you're only gonna watch one, watch Indigo League and/or Orange Islands. If you have the time, watch them all. XD

Kanto IMO. Come to think of it I haven't seen them in forever either.

*Goes looking*

I'd say start at the beginning and just go though them all in order.
It's so much more rewarding to do it like that :)

Like majority said my recommendation would be to watch them in order if you have time. All three series had their fair share of great moments and you can really find gems of some episodes in those regions.

Kanto was when everything started with original trio(Ash,Misty and Brock) and region was absolutely great with good amount of humor and unique plots which arent present so much in these days.

Johto was ok as series and dont pay attention to biased complaints from some fans which doesnt prefer it.Sure it wasnt perfect(none of regions was)but it had some really great moments like silver conference at end of Johto,Whirl Cup(which was done fairly good),some great gym battles, good arcs with red Gyarados and Lugia etc so i would recommend to watch it.

Hoenn was good too, providing something new in show in form of contests with introducing May from new games advertizing them.Gyms could have been handled better in my opinion but contest arc was pretty good.Tournament at end was great aswell.

All three series would be best choice in my opinion.

I show my own bias AGAINST Kanto and Johto, but starting at the beginning is the logical place to start. But start with Hoenn anyway.

Kanto and Hoenn (the latter is my favourite). Johto is pretty boring in my opinion.

And to all the Max haters, Max rules!

Watch them in order: Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. If you only have the time to watch only one, then I would watch Kanto.

I do agree with that, if you can only watch one then watch Kanto. A few reasons I can think of is that its how the show began, its also the most popular and best known out of the ENTIRE series, and also it seems to have the least filler like episodes out of anything.

It depends on what you're in the mood for. Myself, I'm currently re-watching Jouto, 'cause I want to see if there's any good to be gleaned from the so-called "worst" episodes. (And I'm also hyping myself up for when HeartGold and SoulSilver come out in America next year.)

But in terms of preference, I like Houen the best of the three sagas. Kanto suffers from some wonky characterization and bad pacing, and we all know what the issues with Jouto were, but Houen had that all ironed out pretty well. Characterization, for one thing, was vastly improved.

I disagree with that, Hoenn introduced more bad than good how else do you explain why it dropped off so quickly in popularity? And DON'T say the fad died off because that is a given and happened in Johto for a large part. The dreadfully boring filler episodes were still there, contesting became hideously overrated even though its a minor and optional sidequest, also the main cast revamp alienated people.
