i just want to know what grade you young people are going to,and what school.

Junior at the University of Idaho. :0

I'm heading into college.

I am going to UW-Madison, which is the fourth largest college in the country. The guest speaker, who was a professor there (and a very interesting guy--which leads me to believe that I'll get a lot out of the teachers), claimed that it was also the fourth top performing school in America (academically)--right behind Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Obviously, it is hard to express the quality of an education numerically and there was certainly bias in that statement, but these and other assertions--for example, it produces more CEOs than any college besides Harvard--show that it is a formidable school.

It will be a huge adjustment. But if I can make that adjustment and grow up a little, I could be in for a fun time. The city is very interesting, very diverse; it has a much different culture than I'm accustomed to. Whites are still a clear majority, but the inhabitants of the city are ethnically diverse. Lots of Asians, lots of East Indians, lots of blacks. It's a melting pot. There are some ghettoey areas, but the crime is not nearly as bad as Sandusky, Ohio. The different cultures mostly live in harmony, and the city has a unique beauty to it. Lots of activism. Lots of authentic places to eat. Beautiful capitol building. Lots of hippies too. There is no denying that it is a leftist city and campus.

I only have three classes for my first semester:

-Latin 203: Intermediate Latin
-Political Science 104: Introduction to Politics and Government
-Chemistry 103: General Chemistry

I'm only taking Latin to finish my language requirement. I will attending the college of Letters and Science (by far the most comprehensive on campus) and going for a bachelor of science. I hate chemistry, but I'll just have to dig in (I'll be taking chemistry 104 next semester, and dropping Latin for some sort of math or ethnic studies class--both mandatory). At the beginning of sophomore year, I'll be kicking off Zoology 251, which I am excited for (that's why I need the chem). Tons of interesting classes. They even have a class called "20th Century Gay and Lesbian French Poetry." And apparently, one of the over 60 languages they offer was--get this--created by a student. It's pretty bizarre.

I'll be a senior this year at Merkel High School.
Worst school ever. Everyone there are rednecks.

I'm going into grade 10, but grade 11 for Math and French, at a new school where I don't know anyone. Right now I'm a little angry because I was told I was able to get into the Japanese course (a reason for going to that school), but I got my timetable today and I'm not in it! So I'm madly trying to get myself into that course...hopefully I will.

11th at Redlands. They want me to be a student ambassador to Japan, but there's no way in hell we can afford that.

wow!i'm the youngest one because i am going to 6th grade, but i am a little nervous.oh,and good luck on your next grade!

Starting my first year of college in September, however, I am in England so I don't know what grade it is, I have just finished year 11, however...

Going into 9th grade. Mandatory foreign language is the worst thing ever... T_T

I'm going into 9th grade. Can't wait to start high school. It will be fun!

Er... I'm not? o.o

Heheh. I graduated from college with my Bachellor's in Computer Science in 2003. :p I've gone back to college to take the classes I wanted to take then but couldn't afford to. I'm not really in any grade per sé. xD

High school is depressing...

Anyways, Gr. 11, with the hardest combination of subjects there is....

... Is ould have went to summer school for twwo of those courses so I could have more "fun" courses, or maybe a free period.

yeah I've heard that high school is pretty depressing.it kinda depends which school your going to,like if your going to a bad school, your screwed, but if your going to a good one, your lucky.

I guess you could consider me either a freshman or sophomore at Regis University (online). My kids are going into 8th grade and 6th grade, respectively.

The only thing "depressing" about High School is it represent the bridge to adulthood...or something.

12th for me. :p
